Safe travels, no matter how you go.

All the best (from Walt Disney World)!

I'd rather have my kids whining in my car than whining on a plane as everyone gives you the stink eye while you desperately try to handle the situation. When you drive you're in control. When you fly you have very little control. You're at the mercy of the weather, the airline, and the people you're flying with.

While flying is sometimes the only reasonable option I loath it.

TSA treats you like a criminal the moment you step in line. If someone gave me the option of a root canal to avoid boarding and deboarding I'm pretty sure I would take the dental work. When I get off the plane I feel like a refugee and I run to the rental car desk as fast as my legs will carry me.

I may be exaggerating a little....but only a little. I'd drive. :drive:

Here are my 2 cents worth. I only have one child, who is a pretty darn good traveler, she hasn't had much of a choice. At 2 1/2 she spent days in the car on a move from El Paso to Missouri. Including one whole morning getting the truck fixed. Electronics are your friend! If it were only a 10 hour drive we would absolutely drive. However, we would get up and leave at 4 or 5 AM and do the whole drive. My kiddo would fall asleep in the car once we are back out of the city lights for a few hours even at 6/7 she will do that, or did on Thanksgiving. DVD's and snacks go a LONG way toward keeping kiddos occupied.

I'm a firm believer in kids can handle situations better than we think. They just need the opportunity to do so.

My hubby gets up early for work so leaving early wouldn't be a big deal for us. Make it fun and let them ride in their jammies, mine LOVES that!

I also know that all kids are different. Good luck making your decision! I would totally save the $800 and just spend it on gas and not hotel rooms either.
