Hi guys. My oldest dd 21 will be flying for the first time next week. It's been years since we've flown and need some help with the new stuff. She flies into Memphis and from Memphis to Detroit. Is there anything we need to know about those airports?
Now, about carry ons. How big? What to put in? Are Asthma inhalers ok? Can you use them while flying? Any tips for people with asthma?
Is it easier to deal with a larger rolling suitcase or 2 smaller rolling ones?
I know there are plenty of other things that we need to know. Please add anything that I forgot. :) Thanks a bunch. :)

LOL! I thought you were going to post that she was afraid and I was going to recommend Xanax. The airline's website should be able to answer some of your questions. :) I hope that she has a great trip!

Check the airline's website for the baggage size. They should also have a list of what *not* to take.

Asthma inhalers not only can go in the carryon, but *should*. The contents under pressure are much better off in the cabin with her than in your bag in the cargo. I've never had mine even looked at once, let alone had a problem with it, but if you're nervous about her having problems with the airlines with an inhaler, just ask your doctor for a note that states she has asthma and needs the inhaler kept with her. She should also take any other unique medications with her in her carry-on. Over-the-counter stuff can either go in the carryon or packed, but if those get lost, they're easily replacable at her destination by a stop at a Walgreens or similar. Prescriptions aren't so easy to replace.

I've never had any problem on the plane with asthma, but I don't see any reason she couldn't use her inhaler while on the flight if she needed, especially if she has a doctor's note.

Our luggage comes in Large, Medium, and Small. I can't handle the Large by myself, even though it's on wheels. Well, I can, but it's not easy. I much prefer both the medium and small if I have to have both, but usually I can pack everything into a backpack (carryon) and the medium. The way to tell what she can or can't handle is to have her practice rolling each bag if you have both sizes and are trying to decide which to have her take.

Hope this helps!

Be sure to have a good book in carry on and a bottle of water - unopened - before going through the security check point - also can pack any snacks in carry on bag - always wear very comfy clothes and my sneakers on plane
