Flying the day of the full

It doesn't look like I will be able to avoid flying home on Sunday evening after completing Dopey. I would have preferred Monday morning, but I just can't get the time off work. I am a little nervous about this. The flight is 2 hours and leaves at 6:30.

Any experience? Any tips?

I would
1) invest in compression tights for the flight home.
2) purchase a bottle of water to keep up with rehydration
3) select an aisle seat and get up to walk the aisles about half way through the flight.
4) do some monor stretching in the seat (if possible)
5) expect to be sore getting off the plane

My fiancee and I took a red-eye from Vegas to Boston the night after the Rock n Roll Vegas marathon a couple years back. I had compression for my calves and she had full length compression pants on. I wouldn't say we were any more sore after a 6 hour flight than we would have been anyways. Make sure you drink tons of water the entire day leading up to the flight and you'll probably sleep the whole flight especially after the 3 AM wake up call that morning.

Good luck!

I've done it (marathon and triathlon). You'll be a bit sore - but no more than if you sat down for a 2 hour dinner. Stay hydrated and see if you can move around a bit.

Oh my gosh, honestly, I could not have sat on a plane after the full this year. My back/piriformis was spasming so badly. I could have stood (or laid) in the aisle but sitting was really challenging for me. I would definitely take advantage of the massage tent--even if you don't normally get a massage after races. It really helped me a lot. Good luck!
