Flying SW to West Palm Beach FL from upstate NY?

Has anyone done this? It appears they have no non-stop flights..

How scary - and how much of a hassle - is it having to make a change in BW?

I have not done your route, but, we have done the stop at BW, and it is a total cakewalk. Heck, I even went out to smoke and found my way back. LOL The gates are close to each other and you don't change terminals.
You get off the plane, go to the kiosk to get your boarding pass for your flight (they are clearly marked and easy to find and use) and walk to the gate assigned for your flight. There will be someone there to help if you need it.
Relax, enjoy, it is easy.
