I will be bringing a small carry-on AND a bookbag, how big is the space of the seat in front of me? :confused3 I tried seatguru.com but there is NO info on Southwest seats! :confused3 Thanks!

The seat space is under the seat in front of you, so if you get a bulkhead seat, beware, there is no space. If you get a regular seat though, it is quite generous. I've been able to fit a large packed bookbag under there, with room to spare. Once in flight, I move the bookbag closer to me (under my knees) and use the space for legroom. Works well for me!

Where exactly IS a regular seat? An Aisle seat? Thanks again. ;)

A regular seat would be any non-bulkhead aisle, middle, or window seat. I always take the window seat. Also, the exit row on the left side of the plane will have tons of legroom. Although me personally, I've always had plenty of room in a regular seat to fully stretch my legs... and I'm 6'2".

Don't the middle seats have a bit less room under the seats? That's what I have found. If you can't squeeze it in the underseat area, you can put it above you. That won't slow down your deplaning at all.

I think it's the aisle seat that has less room. The bars dividing the area under the seats don't exactly match up to the seats. 2 are large and 1 is small, but I can't remember for sure which one is smaller.

I am trying to avoid putting anything "overhead" as my suitcase is about 25 pounds and I cannot lift THAT weight over my head! :guilty: I was hoping to put the suitcase UNDER the seat and the light book bag over head. I guess I will try and get a middle seat or window seat. ;)
