Hello,

We're considering flying out of Rochester as that would be our cheapest route, but have never flown out of there before. Just wondering what other peoples' experiences have been with this airport.

Also, I'm trying to determine flight times, and while I want the shortest layovers possible, is 40 minutes just too short?

Thanks for your input :goodvibes

We have flown out of Rochester twice in the past year. We drove from Otawa, stayed at the Holiday Inn and left our car there for the week. We had a direct flight from Rochester to Orlando. We won't do it any other way now. Wonderful airport, great hotel and the price was right. We got to Rochester early and spent the day at the Strong Museum of Play. Totally recommended!!

And 40 minutes is not enough for a layover but why would you need one? Airtan flies direct to Orlando several times a week. Not sure about other airlines.

I'm from Rochester so when I saw this thread I thought I would reply :goodvibes The airport is really easy to navigate, not too big, not too small. And there is really never a long wait at security. Our most recent flight was in May, a direct flight to Orlando on JetBlue. It left right on time and we were in Florida at 9:45am. It was great!

thanks for the responses :)

I know that airtran has direct flights, but they get in in the afternoon and we'd like to get there in the morning, that's why we're looking at layovers.

thanks again for the info :thumbsup2

We are from Kingston and have flow out of Rochester three times. It's a very nice modern feeling airport. Very easy to navigate. Also, has one of the best parking-shuttle services I have encountered. As soon you pull into a lot, the shuttle is radioed to your car. Usually by the time I park and pop the trunk, the shuttle is there. I always look for flights from Syracuse or Rochester. It's 3 hours from the border. We are leaving Sept 20 out of Rochester. Can't beat the flights. $165.00- $25.00 Airtran coupon, direct.

I am also from kingston. We always fly out of syracuse. Jet blue has a direct flight. It is was a little bit more when I looked before booking our flight but it is closer. The direct flight doesn't leave til the afternoon so we don't have to stay in a hotel the night before. Jet blue has tv's in every seat, great for kids.

What is the hotel people use in Rochester for a good park and fly rate?
Has anyone tried Binghamton? Thanks all.
