Anyone here done it? I just booked with southwest and we could have gone either Buffalo or Albany as they are the same driving distance for us. Albany had the better departure times.. but I know nothing about Albany i.e. airport, hotel, where to leave the van etc...

No very specific info for you but I used to live near Albany and have driven right past the airport every summer for years going to my folks' house. It's really easy to get to.. right off the Northway (rte. 87). For nearby hotels, look for something on Wolf Road, in Colonie, or near the intersection of Rte. 7 and 87. Wish I had more info. for you but I haven't actually flown in/out of that airport since, OMG, 1995.
