Flying into Sanford

Okay, so we can get super cheap flights and suprise my turning 12 year old for his birthday!! How is it flying into and out of there? We might fly into MCO (use magical express) and fly out of Sandford. Is there a car service we could use or anyone have experiences with? Around how much? Or, I guess we could rent a car and drive over. Would love to hear anyones experiences!!!

I flew round trip out of Orlando/Sanford twice. It's a very small airport. It's further away than MCO and pretty much out in no man's land.

Food is limited. But they have the best onion rings ever!

I flew on Allegiant. Had a great experience both times with the airline.

We didn't rent a car. So I do not know anything about renting there.

Car rental at Sanford has tended to be more expensive for same dates at MCO that I've checked

It's small operation. Lines get long when a plane lands. No kiosks observed, u deal with the counter. Car selection is limited on their Alamo aisles

4 trips on allegiant to SFB since last November, 3 were delayed. One we sat on Tarmac in PIT for over an hour departing with no excuse. Even longer was an equipment (bathroom malfunction) on way home

I hesitate to book them even moreso over spirit who at least tends to have a flight out most days. With allegiant it's only 3 X a week for us

I've used Allegiant into and out of Sanford twice now and would recommend it. I love the easiness of the airport. Our flights were on-time and had no problems. We rented a car from Alamo both times and found the drive to be easy.

We have also flown Allegiant several times into and out of Sanford and would recommend it. Flights are very reasonable, but load the phone app to save money as they charge to print your tickets.

We rented our cars well ahead of time on-line at one of the discount sites and got a great rate each time. It is about 50 minutes from WDW without traffic.
