Hi everyone,
For those who have flew in from southern California to Orlando (roundtrip), can you suggest any airlines that may have a good deal? There are going to be 4 of us, so I know it's going to be expensive. We'll problably be going late April/ early May of 2006, so we'll try to buy the tickets as soon as we are able...unless they have a good deal around the time we go??
Thanks. Can you tell I've only flown once before ;)

I always fly on Southwest. You can usually find them in the $250 R/T price range. I've never had to pay that since I always use my free rapid rewards ticket to go to Orlando.
I have checked out Song and they seem to have some excellent prices from LAX. I may book them if I do a quiet trip in June.

Unless they change their flights, the one I'd stay away from is JetBlue. Nothing against the airline, it's just that to fly to Orlando, you have to go through JFK which makes it a 12+ hour flight.

Thanks LeftCoaster, :goodvibes
Do you by any chance know how far in advance flights can be booked thru Southwest?

I don't know which airport you would use but Southwest has some flights from Ontario to Orlando for $99 in early May of this year. You might want to check some dates just for the info.

On Southwest, I'd fly out of LAX instead of Ontario. You can find the same prices but the flights will generally be much better on this route. Ontario is my airport of choice except for my Orlando trips.

Southwest's schedules tend to go from 3-6 months out. They don't go too far out which is a good thing for them. I've never had a flight changed on me like they do with other airlines.

The majors can be fairly competitive from LAX to MCO, often coming close to SW, but they may offer nonstop flights. We are looking at a non-stop on American for this October that runs about $236 pp right now.

Good luck -- Suzanne

Have you checked into Frontier? We got a great deal from Spokane, Wa to Orlando Rdtrp.

thank you everyone!
We were kind of hoping to fly out of Ontario, since the airport it is only about 10 minutes away. I have heard that it is better to fly out of LAX, though. We'd like to take a late night flight if possible- hoping the kids will sleep the whole time.

I'll just have to start checking the flights starting in Dec. But then again, maybe I shouldn't book too early or I might miss a special promotion??? But then again if I book early it would be more likely that I'd get the flight I want. Hmmm... decisions. decisions.

We wanted to fly out of Ontario too (we live in West Covina), but there were no non-stop flights, so there went that idea. We ended up booking with Delta Song. We paid $280 round trip per person, but the price has dropped since then. And the best part for us, non-stop evening flight! It departs LAX at 10:30pm. Plus Song provides individual t.v. screens for each passenger, along with satelite t.v. :flower:

we are taking a red-eye from SFO to MCO, with a very short stopover in
Charlotte NC. our flight leaves at 11pm, and arrives at 9:15 am at MCO.
we are using c/c mileage points for these, but, in my travel experiance, if
you are not flying until 2006, do not book your flights yet, they will typically
be the equivilent of "rack rates" since no market share date exists for that
time period yet. Start really watching fares/schedules 120 days in advance,
and get obsessed with them about the 60 day mark..that's when you will
really be able to get a feel of what is happening (a perfect example..Delta
as a "surprise" manuever, overnight lowered their rates pretty much across
the board last month...started a virtual feeding frenzy with the other
airlines trying to hold their market! It's alot like the stockmarket, no I take
that back, it IS the stockmarket! be patient...BTW, we are flying United
