I have read a lot of excellent reviews about the Flying Fish Cafe. On the advice of some folks who have eaten there numerous times, we tried the Flying Fish in early August. Our experience was, putting it mildly, not nearly as good as those I have read about here. Service and food were both under par.

Anyone else had a problem recently or did we just catch the restuarant on a bad night?

So sorry to hear that you didn't have a good experience. When we had steaks there two weeks ago, we were not as impressed as we had been previously. I hope this restaurant doesn't go downhill.:(

We have had dinner there 4 or 5 times since the new chef started. It was only this last time that the steaks did not seem as good, a little tough and unevenly cooked. We've made friends with our server, so the service was still great! The manager came over and asked us how everything was and we told him. He was apologetic and hopefully forwarded our comments to the chef. We have enjoyed this restaurant so much, I really hope it doesn't begin to disappoint.

We were twice in August & it was superb both times. But nothing or no one can be perfect. Chef Robert has only made changes for the good IMO.

Especially regarding steak there is no way to predict a tough one is there. I mean I've experienced the same with Yachtsamans and they're a steak house per se...

I think a bad meal at FF definately falls into the 'bad night' scenerio...
