Their specialty is the Potato-Encrusted Red Snapper, which my husband says is great. I have not had that, but I had an very good dinner there (it was a Christmas special, so not from the regular menu).
The Potato Encrusted Snapper was excellent, although I had the sauce on the side. I'm glad I did because it came with a lot of sauce. Another person in our party had the scallops which she loved.
The fried calamari and the Gulf Shrimp were both very good appetizers.
The menu is constantly changing and many dishes are seasonal. The only entrees that are basically always on the menu is the potato-wrapped snapper and the steak. My fiancee had the snapper a couple of years ago and really liked it but found it to be heavier than she was expecting. I don't believe I have ever had the same entree more than once and have never been disappointed.
The only thing we have ordered more than once is the carmelized banana napoleon for dessert. It may be the best dessert on property.
The snapper is awesome. Like someone else stated the crabcake is yummy and I usually will order that for my meal. I also enjoy the mussels which are very filling.
Flying Fish is one of my favorite restaurants. For appetizers I always get either the mussels, cheese plate, or tomato mozzarella salad. For entrees I'll go with scallops as long as the risotto for the night is not English pea (hate English peas). (I love their pumpkin risotto with sage and the dried tomato isn't bad.) If the ristto is English pea then I go with the steak. For desserts I always get whatever the trio is for that night or the cheese plate.
Peanut Butter Freeze, best dessert drink ever! Kahlua, Bailey's, Creme de Banana, Dark Creme de Cacao and a bit of PB, all blended together for a fabulous frozen dessert Oh, and food? The snapper, scallops with risotto and the NY strip are all great choices.
