Flying Buffalo to MCO - WWYD: test in Orlando or Buffalo?

Just an FYI about ArriveCAN: you can enter info before you have test results. You just have to say you have test results, not actually upload them. I did a quick trip driving over land border in August, when even short trips needed a test. It was my first (and only) time using ArriveCAN, so I really wanted to do it at home in case I needed extra documents or something, and so I would not have to do it during my trip. I entered all the info, said I had test results, drove across the border, got tested first thing, got results 48 hours later, and then drove back. I can't remember if I showed my results on my phone or if I uploaded them to ArriveCAN once I got them, but it all worked out fine.
GL with whatever you decide, and have a great trip!

Tigerlily, where did you cross at and did you test at Walgreens?

Thank you! We flew to California in August and had to use it then, but I already forgot :)
Update: I booked a rental car from Orlando MCO, dropping off at the Buffalo airport - hoping won’t have to use it, but at least that option is there worst case scenario.

If you aren't in a hurry, I would say the best thing would be to test in Buffalo, you don't have to take time out of your vacation, you don't have the risk of testing positive in Florida. Get your test as early as possible in the morning, do hang at the hotel or go to the mall or something. Most Walgreens test have been coming back very quickly from what I have heard.

Honestly… going back and forth for sure.
I’m going to look into the option of testing in Buffalo as well, hopefully you can use Walgreens same as in Orlando, without a State ID.

I looked online yesterday and saw a few testing options for the ID Now Test at Walgreens in the Buffalo area and they had availability a few days out. I hope you don't have to show state ID. We got tested in the Florida panhandle in October and it was fine there.

I crossed at the Ambassador Bridge. I've done two more trips here in December for short trips that didn't need tests before Dec 21. when the rules changed again. I wanted to do CVS or Walgreens, but they made me nervous, because their websites do not conclusively say that you will or will not be charged, via a bill mailed later. Everyone here has been testing in Orlando and Anaheim, places with lots of tourists governments might be willing to subsidize with free tests, so I don't think they're a good comparison. So I went to a place where the local public health directs people who do not have health insurance. Remember: I am a dual citizen, so I can fill out the SSN field on the US testing websites. Not sure what undocumented folks or international travelers can or should do,
Stay safe, everyone, and have a good holiday, wherever you are!

Thanks for responding! We have tickets to the Olivia Rodrigo concert in Detroit in the spring. Hopefully they’ll have the under 72 hr rule back in place or we’ll just suck it up and pay for testing. Happy holidays!
