14 of us going-

If we fly outbound on Song- 89.10 per person
Return flight on Southwest 98.70 per person

roundtrip on either carrier is close to $400 per person due to days of the week

I say we fly 2 carriers-

What do you say???

I am doing it this December but using Jetblue on my way down.
It will not be a problem. If the flights are right for your group, then go for it.

EXCELLENT!!!!! this means I dont have to take the kids out of school for another day!

Lets just hope the flights are still available after the other 10 agree!

We're doing it in February. We are flying down to Orlando on Southwest (I had a $400 credit I needed to use) and returning on Spirit Air. I think it will be fine. I'm told they may check us a little more at security (because of the one way ticket), but I'm not worried about it. We will just allow a little more time for the security check.

Yep, us too! We're going down on JetBlue in January and Song on the way back. This pattern is saving us >$30 apiece. Yeah, I expect we'll be flagged by security for the one-ways, but we can always show them the return on the other airline, and of course submit to the extra screening anway.
::yes::
Good luck!

Just be aware that one way tickets may subject you to a longer security search. Be prepared and allow some extra time and you will be fine.

Those one-way tickets nearly guarantee the special search treatment by security. Every one-way I've taken in the last 3 years has been flagged for security, while I haven't been pulled aside on any round-trips in the same time frame. Be prepared to have all of your carry-on luggage searched and possibly unpacked in front of everyone to check for illegal items. If you don't want the world to know that you wear Tigger slippers, put them in a checked bag. :-) As has been mentioned, it's really not that big a deal, but it could add a half hour to your check-in time.
