Forget Expedia!

We first went on EXPEDIA.COM, which claims to have the cheapest airfares, however, they DO NOT list all airlines!

We booked on FLYI or Independance Air, a Round Trip-Direct Flight from Washinig Dulles International Airport to Orlando for $148 per person, INCLUDING TAXES AND FEES (August 2005)! The cheapest airfare on Expedia was $188 including taxes and fees, AND THAT WAS WITH LAYOVERS!!!!

The web address is www.flyi.com. If you make reservations by phone they tack on $5.00 per person.

The moral of this tale is: CHECK YOUR REGIONAL INDEPENDENT AIRLINES for the best price!

I find that cheap airfares depend on what airport/city you're flying from. For me, I use Bradley Internatinal (Hartford) and Southwest consistently offers the best fares, schedules and most non-stops.

You'e right when you say shop around. The major travel sites don't offer all available airlines (Southwest is an example.) It definitely pays to do you homework.

I don't know if you have flown Independence yet or not, but if not, I just wanted to let you know that we flew with them BUF-IAD-MCO 12/2004 and could not have been happier. Wonderful staff, no flight delays. No complaints .

The trouble with Independece air is they connect to Washington from hartford then to MCO..no direct flight...yet

But if the price is right, I can do a connection.

It's the same from BOS or PVD. Independence at IAD is pretty effecient and the connection does not normally have a large delay. The gates are usually close to each other.
