Very excited, just booked fly drive with VH ( 2 adults, 2 children) for last 2 weeks of August 2013 with 4 wheel drive and full insurance for £3334, hope to get my 2.5% quidco and Frequent Virgin discount that should knock a bit more off the price! Basic fly drive was £2850 ish , just the flights on VA were £3334 ! Got the price I was prepared to pay so booked it. And Only 3 weeks until we see the Dream!!!!

Glad you found a price you are happy with. I just checked our dates but £1100pp before adding car insurance. It also includes Delta indirect flights, not VA.
I don't like how it adds indirect, if buying a VH package I would want VA flights at that price.

Very pleased with the price. Didn't think I would get fly drive in August for that price, with direct flights. I have paid over the odds for the car, but with the FV discount and Quidco i hope to recoup some of that.

You could have not added the car insurance then not collected the car, thats what I did last flydrive I did. If you tell them your intentions then they charge you a fee but just don't collect the car and they don't do anything. Many do it.

It crossed my mind, but wasn't sure if I could do that. Top tip for the future!

To update - Unfortunately VH won’t honour my Frequent Virgin Discount, they have referred me to their T&C,s that state the booking must be made on the phone! I have responded pointing out how much I have spent with them over the last 10 years (over 40k) on holidays and asked that this be escalated to a decision maker, will have to see how I get on, but not holding out much hope. Alarm bells should have rung when I couldn’t see anywhere to enter my number on the online booking page, as I,m sure I have been able to do this in the past. Has anybody else had any success with this scenario? Please VH restore my faith!

I definitely booked online last time I got my Frequent Virgin discount. I have never booked a VH holiday by phone. But that was 2008 last time I used them. Just checked my confirmation from that holiday and it says this:
Your Frequent Virgin Club or Flying Club membership number(s): *****

So I guess you could add it online back then, I remember the online discount was 5%, they removed that and gave me 10% FVD instead.
Must have changed the T&C's.

We booked our last holiday online too, then phoned up and got the FVC discount added plus the free V-room entry. Must admit, we booked it in 2009 though.

Thats was my previous experience. In their email response they just referred me to the T&C,s and told me it was my responsibility to check them! Correct I know! but a bitter pill to swallow based on my loyalty and spend with them over the last 10 years.

VH seem to have lost any interest in retaining customers. I really don't understand their pricing and attitude to customers. Glad I don't use them anymore.

I,ll update when and if I get a response from VH, but use this as a cautionary tale. Just noticed that no online booking discount seems to have been applied either, guess their not offering that anymore either!

Yes we have also only ever booked online and then called up with no problems, hope you get it sorted

Update - Called them, they are still not budging on adding the FVD, but I am awaiting a call back - they are going to reprice it, add the discount and possibly let me move the deposit across to the new booking, so it may work out if the costs haven’t risen too much over the last few days; online the Fly drive has gone up by £100

Update 2 - The repriced package came back £162 cheaper overall with the price rises and the 10% discount taken into consideration (not quite the sum I had envisaged) but the prices have gone up since Wednesday. So VH have transferred the deposit across, waived the amendment fee and added the Vroom. So slightly cheaper, hard to say what I would have got if I had booked it on the phone initially. Call centre advised they often have better prices than online!?! make your own minds up on that one. Anyhow….drama over its booked….. with a little more discount, just not as much as I would have hoped!
