flu shot?

my drs office just called and asked why i havent been in to get my shot. i am high risk asthma / heart problems .. i feel so guilty getting it what if an old person needs it? my dr. said we only give to high risk you really need it. i feel like i am kinda jipping someone.what to do???

With your medical history and them telling you that you're high risk, I'd say you need to get it.

I was at an urgent care center yesterday and was informed they don't have any. I'm high risk also with diabetes.

You need the shot. If the doctor's office called, they feel that you need it also. Believe me, they aren't calling people who are "marginal" and skipping other, more needy patients!

Don't feel guilty. Just be glad you are able to get it!

I would say you need to go.
My Mom has had Open Heart Surgery and is a Diabetic and she needs to get one.

Don't feel guilty, you can't afford to get sick with health issues.

I agree...if your Dr. is flat out telling you to get it, then get it. Your health is just as important as the next guys (regardless of their age.) My 3 yr old (asthma) got it, and my baby got the first dose (since it's his first time getting it) but they said there might not be enough left for his second dose, we find out in another week.

Hope there's some left for him! Both my girls were able to get thier shot. My 5 year old has asthma, so she just HAD to have it... the office had plenty of supply, so my 7 year old got it as well. The doctor said they like to give it to siblings of high risk kids because they are likely to bring it home and affect the high riskers... (did that make sense?). I say you should try to get your shot!

I agree. Please go get the flu shot so you won't wind up in the hospital. We're going to be full enough this winter. I'd rather have you happy and healthy at home.

I got mine last night...employee health finally vaccinated the ER, oncology, L&D, and nursing home employees at my hospital. The rest of the staff gets the next shipment.
