Has anyone here done a week where these were both being held?

Is it really busy? Crowded? Too much to handle?

My DH (StarWarsMan) really wants to go to SW weekends and I would like to see the topiaries of the F/G festival...What are the crowds like?

We usually go in the off season and love the low crowds but this would be around the mid-may mark and we are worried that the wait times for rides will be very long.

How is the heat? We don't do well in extreme heat(we are Canadian)...Any info would be appreciated.

Hello fellow Canadians! My DH and I are heading down to WDW over our long May weekend (21-25) for an anniversary get away. I can't wait to see the Flower & Garden Show! I hear crowds are very manageable at Epcot. For the SW events, I hear that it gets very crowded in the areas that hold the meet and greet events, but other places in that park don't seem to be that affected. If you go during the US holiday weekend apparently it gets really crowded. We usually go to WDW in Sept when it's really hot and humid (from a Cdn perspective!), so I'm expecting May to be hot, but probably not as humid as Sept. We get up and go first thing to parks and then take mid day break at hotel and then go back to parks at night. Hopefully someone with experience during this time will chime in to help us both about the crowd situation!

Both of these were going on last year when we went. The F&G at Epcot doesn't really seem to affect attendance significantly, and the displays are wonderful! Do check them out if you can. We didn't go to MGM on the weekends, so I don't know about Star Wars Weekends.

We went to WDW during the F&G/Star Wars Weekend a couple years back.

The crowds were not bad, and the F&G did not really affect attendance. Plus the displays are absolutely awesome!

The Star Wars weekends are really cool! My DH and I are both Star Wars buffs, and it was pretty cool some of the dressed up characters walking around. The only place it got pretty crowded were the meet and greets for the stars, but it was nothing severe. We got close enough to see Jake Lloyd pretty good.

They are both a lot of fun, and the crowds are way better than going in July-Sept.

Have fun!!

May is a good time to go. It's already warm down here but not that humid....YET!

Keep a couple of things in mind though. Schools around here let out on 5/18 and the others won't be far behind. WDW is running a very good ticket special for Florida residents and we are having nice weather. So there will probably be lots of locals there on the weekends. ::yes::

That is great news...

If we go next year it will be on the first weekend of Star Wars weekends. Hope we will beat the crowds by arriving before school lets out and by going to the parks EARLY everyday.

What are the temps like...75, 80's ......90's....Us Canadians don't always do so good in the heat....I can live up to 85 but by 90 I'm no good to anyone.:earseek:

Your best bet on weather is www.weather.com and use zip code 32830. You can see a 10 day forecast - but Florida weather changes quickly so keep an eye on it. It has been warm down here lately, mid 80's, but it's not that humid yet. :teeth:

Here's a copy of what I pulled up today, but like I said, it will change:

We just got back today.
EPCOT was Thursday May 13, not big crowds, as hot as we could stand( 87?). Wonderful topiarys and Flower Stuff.
Friday was MGM, same heat, not too humid. Only crowds noticeable around Star Wars celebrity Meet and Greet and Voyage of the Little Mermaid and a 45 minute wait for Rockn'roller coaster. Everything else we walked right on.

We just got back from a quick trip that was planned just for the Star Wars and Flower & Garden show May 12-15.

Did Epcot on Thursday. Crowds were very small. It was hot, but cloudy and windy, so it didn't seem so bad, except when you were walking on the pavement around the countries! Yikes!

Did MGM on Saturday. Had planned on using early entry, but decided to sleep in, instead. Arrived at MGM around 11am. I thought the crowds were very manageable! We waited around 20 mintes for RNR at 1pm. Fast pass return wasn't until 315. FP for Star Wars Millionaire. That was great. They only have two SW versions a day. The area around Star Tours was very crowded. They had all kinds of costumed characters there. Also, two of the actors were signing autographs and taking pictures.

Did MK on Friday. YIKES!!! So many people and so hot, we left after a few hours. We are used to off peak season so any crowd is alot for us. For those people who are used to holidays, this probably wouldn't have been anything! LOL

Any other questions, just ask...

The last 2 years we went to Epcot on a Friday and it was swarming with school groups. I forgot about it happening last year when I planned Epcot for a Friday again this year (it was May 7 this year).

The dog-gone maze was on the path through the roses nearest Honey I Shrunk the Audience. It was cute! Don't know about the Space Maze.

Just got back... we went to both parks on a Sunday and the crowds were only bad in the STar Wars area - we accidently got stuck back there and it was jam packed with people and Star Wars characters - a nightmare! but other than that, we didn't exp any problems with crowds...

The Flower and Garden Festival is beautiful!

Weather was okay, certainly not as bad as JUly! High 80's when we were there =)

If you go to Star Wars Weekends, I recommend the Show presented in the ABC Theater called Stars of the Saga, this show is presented only once per day at 1:30 pm (Friday-Sunday) I recommend you get there around 1 pm as there is a Neat Per-Show by four Storm Troopers who talk to during the Per-Show, then main show is a question and answer session from the two Star Wars Celebrities. The rest of the shows in the ABC Theater are a film presentation of Highlights from the past two Star Wars Movies and a Behind the Scenes look at Episode three.
