I have to say that I stumbled across this post this morning and I'm glad I did.
I saw "The Association" when they played during the Flower & Garden Festival in '98 and they were awesome. I hadn't really even heard of them, but I knew a lot of their songs. I also saw "The Buckinghams," but they were nowhere near as entertaining as the Association. I taped both bands because I happen to be there the last night the Association was playing and then again the next night when the Buckinghams started their 3 or so day run.
I think the Association played Epcot again in 2000 or 2001 and I drove down from Georgia (almost 6 hours from where I live). The thing was, a friend wanted to go with me. I thought that would be cool, but when we got down there, he was complaining the night before we were supposed to go to Epcot and all the next morning about how he'd been to Epcot when he was 13 and how boring it was...yada yada yada. I kept telling him that it was way cooler now, especially if you're an adult. Anyway, he complained to the point that when we got to the parking booth at Epcot, I turned around and headed to the MK. It was a mistake because: 1) I had gone down just to see the Association and tape them again, and 2) it was a Monday (in Spring/Summer), and the MK was slammed.
It's really a shame how co-dependent I've sometimes been. I can't believe that I would let someone else ruin it for me. Next time, I'll stick to my guns.
And...if the Association is playing this year, which I haven't been able to confirm totally, then I'll be there.
I also want to see Davy Jones (saw him with the Monkees twice in '86!). Oh, and Turtles would be good, too.
