Sorry! Go earlier in the spring and it shouldn't be a big deal. Weather is also (usually) nicer
I had one early March trip, 2017?, where it was SO hot they were frantically watering the flowers during the start of F&G since they weren't meant for that level of heat!
Fellow Californian here— I’ve been miserably cold (and dropped way too much money on Helly Hansen in the Norway pavilion) in late Nov- early Feb. We went just before Thanksgiving last year and were so cold (it was about 50 degree highs?).
Not sure where you are from but I would strike late Nov and Dec… I know that Aug and Sept are crazy, crazy hot. I would believe March/April and late Oct/early Nov are the sweet spots.

DL already covered California. Disney picked Florida for WDW because the weather was better than farther north along the Eastern seaboard, and at the time something like 95% of the US population lived there. PS at the time, I don’t think there were as many hurricanes disrupting Florida every year as there are now. There was a multi-year lull in hurricane activity.
We prefer November through early March for weather. May is hot, but “generally” not as humid as later in summer.
