Florida weather and Moonlight Magic in Sept. Give me the good the bad and the ugly

So, I was just at WDW over Memorial weekend and found it a little toasty but mostly totally fine. We did July, 2023, the record-breaking year, and it was HORRIFIC. There are no words for how horrible it was. We have done August in 2019 and all our pictures we are sweaty messes, even with Camelbak backpacks, misting fans, hats, and tank tops and shorts. We did August/September again in 2022, and it was soooo hot and humid. The minute we stepped out of the room our glasses and phones were fogged up. My husband has boob sweat stains by 9:30 a.m., and the kids and I look like tomatoes -- all red faces.

My husband has now told me that if I force him to go to WDW in summer, he may divorce me, LOL.
oofff I was 🥵 🥵 🥵

They are pricy, but very high quality and will last a long time if maintained well.
Ahh you remember I am cheap. We actually have a Columbia outlet close by, Im going to give them a visit and see what I can find. But honestly while at WDW I would've paid $200 to anyone that could've kept me cool.

Idk what the women’s clothing is like, but I bought several light weight pants from Uniqlo at DS. They are great in all kinds of weather and they might have some women’s version. Also very reasonably priced.

I've never used on in the parks but camping and outside at home I've used a cooling towel that was nice.

I also saw people wearing fans at Disneyland last summer.

My wife purchased a skort collection just for WDW…. no jeans were packed….

Any idea what brand?

I think this thread has convinced me to cancel our July trip for the Epcot MM and to pick up our AP magnet... My husband hates the heat (and hates living in So Cal during our summer months), so I don't want us all to be grumps. Plus I haven't told him we're booked at BWV since that's what I could find close to Epcot. BWV is his least favorite resort we've actually stayed at, and I think he'll revolt once he finds out :scared:

That's me...I get so cranky in the heat. No one has fun around me. 🤣

But do they make pants? :rotfl2: I have never done the wear a long sleeve to stay cool thing, but I know that is 100% a thing that works. I will give this a go because I really dont like wearing sunscreen at all

My husband started wearing long sleeves a year or so ago, after being diagnosed with melanoma. He swears by them.

The problem with most of them for me is that the neckline is high and that's a sensory nightmare for me. I mean, I don't wear low cut or even v-neck tops...but the UV shirts are still too high for me most of the time. I just slather on a mineral sunscreen. Makes me even 1 shade whiter but that's okay.

Those pants AstroBlaster linked look great. Like a much nicer version of my amazon pants. And a bit more flattering.

I really, REALLY recommend finding an alternative to jeans, for sure, if you take this trip.

I also have a hard time with high necks. Typing this I am now remembering that forgot to back and buy the vneck sweatshirt I saw at WDW. Never do I ever see Vneck sweatshirts!

My wife went hard in the paint for PJ bottoms and leggings during COVID.

Then one night we had a “date night” at home and I came down in slacks and a button down and so she got huffy and said she now had to go up and change. She did the whole hair, makeup, lipstick, dress, jewelry, etc and when my youngest (very little at the time) saw her he said “Mommy, you look like a princess!”…. 👸

Ever since then I have been allowed to buy her Tommy Bahama dresses from the outlet store for date nights….

Mission Impossible: Mission Accomplished

According to this very scientific monthly breakdown it will be somewhere between "like you are covered in baby oil wrapped in tin foil on the sun" and "really hot"

In all seriousness August and September are much warmer than May. July is even significantly worse than May IMO. It will rain every single day and you may still have very high humidity at night. It is also peak hurricane season.

I am not saying to cancel the trip. I think your plan to hang around the resort and do pool/indoor activities during the peak heat and sun and head to the parks at night is a good idea. It should also help you avoid being stuck in the midday rain. Just take it easy and listen to your body. Stay hydrated!

I particularly like the specific difference between July and August.

I havent worn shorts in public since 1996. I actually remember the last time I have a photo of me wearing them lookin all cute at Magic Mountain. I was 3 months pregnant and didnt know it. Never wore shorts again during pregnancy and after I had my daughter.
Really resisting the urge to drop a “Let it Go” meme here, but the truth is that I too am unreasonably self-conscious about some things. I think what @AstroBlasters sent you might be even better— but I got a pair of pants kind of like this at a boutique near Aulani: https://www.lulus.com/products/knoc...273&gbraid=0AAAAAD-pt91OA9OZYi_lR3B19fyOteyKP

I personally would go for MM and some resort days and plan to spend time indoors…catch the new shows, maybe the second Starlight parade, take it slow…but if you were miserable in May it might not be for you.

Those are super cute!

I have never seen these, but look like they will make your feet soo hot! Flip flops all the way for me!
Haha these are meant to be worn over cloth shoes that would get ruined if wet so I didn’t really notice a difference temp wise over socks and sneakers. Flip flops don’t really need the protection I’d think and agreed they would be gross to wear over top.

Also good for you for wearing flip flops in the parks. I’m always in awe of everyone wearing zero cusion footwear and walking endless steps. My back, feet and knees could never. 34 going on 74 is my reality😅
