Hi All
Right, i'll be honest, the thought of writing a trip report had been worringing me for weeks before even going on this holiday, so please forgive me if they turn out, too long, too boring, too short etc, etc,
Now I have put all my digital images from the camera in Jessops yesterday to be turned into prints and will pick them up tomorrow, I figured that way I could write up the report and cross reference each photo that I needed to go with each day more easily than having to go through everyone on my computer first before I uploaded it.
So I thouht I would break you in nice and gently with a pre trip report which will have no photos lol.
Me: Sue 43 Born Worrier and Trip Leader.
DD: Vicki 15 2nd In Command, But the Real Leader according to her.
I cant quite believe this trip has come around as quick as it has. I remember stepping off the plane from Orlando Sept 1st 2004, and my mum saying to me "Well was it good". "Fantastic" I replied, but I dont think I'de go in August again because of the heat, humidity, hurricanes, etc, etc. We were very lucky to be home on time as our's was the last flight to leave Sanford before they closed it down for 3 days due to the hurricane(I forget the hurricanes name).
Well 24 hours later, there I was, sat ever so excited in the travel agents, handing over my deposit for our next holiday to Florida on the 18th August 2005, somehow after a nights sleep , I had managed to convince myself that the last 2 weeks of August were the best after all.
Now where were we going to stay, this year I decided to go to the Pop Century, I had heared good things about it and thought we would give it a try. Our other 3 trips had been at the All Star Movies(1) and The All Star Sports(2) which I have to admit we loved, so I hope I have made the right choice.
Ok, all decided 18th August 2005, Pop Century, Flying from Cardiff, with Direct Holidays. We also treated ourselves to Premium Gold seating as it's very unusual for Cardiff to have it, but as the aircraft is a Monarch Airbus it is a lot bigger than the ones we have been on before. Mind you it came at a hefty extra at £249 each, so I was just hoping it was going to be worth it.
Now by this stage I had known all about the dis boards ever since I went on the disney cruise last year, but had spent very little time planning last year and felt I had missed out on a lot of vital tips and info, so this year I was going to do it right and started using the dis on a daily basis.
Through the dis, I discovered that there were a lot of other dissers going the same time Disney 13(Andy) Tony64(TONY)Florry to name a few and of course Miffy2003(Karen). Karen and I have spoke to each other on a weekly basis ever since planning this holiday, by email, pm,and even the odd text message.
With 3 months to go I start planning and dieting like mad, last year because we had 5 days out with the cruise, Vicki and I felt we had done a lot of running around and packing and repacking, so this year was going to be more laid back.We have done Universal and Discovery Cove before so this time would be just Disney, Disney ,Disney.I made a list of things we had not done before and was determined to achieve them this time, this included riding the monorail, seeing wishes, doing Buzz amongst other things.
I have made only a couple of ADR'S, my first is on the 19th August at Trials End when we are meeting fellow disers we are cruising with next August, and 1 on the 27th August at Sci-Fi,as we have always wanted to try it.We also have plans to meet up with some UK disers at Epcot on Sunday 21st for drinks. The rest of the time we will just go with the flow, and hopefully be able to get seats as its just the two of us, most of the time we will eat at the food court at Pop.
We purchased our 14 Ultimate tickets from Attraction City Direct, which price matched a cheaper web site that sold the same tickets.
With a month to go shopping sprees came into their own, with loads of bargains being had for me in the early summer sales.
Now Im fairly easy to buy for, shorts, tops, etc, but my daughter is a very different matter. If it's not Denim, Black, Navy or Grey and unless it covers the whole body from the neck to the toes, chances are its not getting a look in.What happened to the darling little 8 year old who liked to dress like Tinkerbell-Well she turned into a 15 year old drum playing mosh, who likes to wear a System Of The Down Sweatshirt on a summers day.
After a week long conversation of me trying to explain how she really is likley to pass out in the heat dressed all in denim, she reluctently agrees to a new image, after all she says, nobody will know me over there.
So before she changes her mind I whip her into town and am plesently suprised when she picks out some nice summer wear including (suprise suprise) some dresses and skirts. I knew my little girl was in there somewhere, saying that I have only today had to tell her that I really dont think she'll find any use for the wollen bobble hat she has packed.
So here we are, the night before we leave, I am almost 2 stone lighter, but im sure I will be bring some of those lost lbs back with me, and my purse is even lighter, not cheap these trips are they!! I am sick with excitment and nerves but Vicki is taking it all in her stride, I have read the weather forcasts, all looks good, for the next week or two, everything is packed,I have tickets, money, passports, I said goodbye to Karen and family last Saturday,as they will be there already enjoying themselves, and I have posted my thanks to everybody on the boards for all their help, so now its just time to catch a few hours sleep before we leave at 5.30am tomorrow morning for 20 min trip to the airport.
That was all written up before I went and meant to post it the night before we left and just never got around to it, so I thought it would be a good place to start. I will try and do Day 1 tomorrow with photos included. Sorry if this has been a bit long.
