Thanks to some new laws passed in Florida, our existing home insurance has gone up almost 50%. We have ASI through GEICO and I wanted to research and see if I could find any cheaper, yet reliable, insurance companies. Most of the popular insurances like progressive don't even offer insurance in Florida. When I google for FL home insurance I just get websites for quotes that want my phone number. I just want to get a quote on-line or call them when it's convenient for me. Can you help me figure out which insurance companies do offer insurance in Florida. TIA.

I close on my new home next week and got an insurance quote from Geico. They wanted $3100 for 2000 sq.ft. I about vomited. I called AAA and got a quote of $1170 thru Citizens. That's who I bound with.

Wow, ours is through Geico and it just went up to a little over $1400 for 3,100sq.ft. It was under $1000 last year. I'll check with Florida Family (thanks DVC-Don) but it might just be the norm now with the new law allowing a 40% increase.

A company called Universal I think?? We live 1 block from the open ocean so our options are limited, though. We were with State Farm until they started doubling the premium every year and then dumped our entire area:crazy2:

I have Tower Hill. Paid $844 for a 1650 sqft house this year.
I had them last year. They canceled the policy after saying they saw cracks on my house indicating a sink hole. Problem was they looked at the wrong house. Then I found Florida Family had a better financial rating.

We have had Tower Hill since moving into our new house almost 2 years ago. So far, so good.

Security First. We went to them when Cotton States stopped doing Homeowners in our area. It went up a lot last year though, seems to go up every year. There are really no good choices here in FL.

We have had Tower Hill for 2 yrs-stayed at $4000 for 2 yrs-8 mi to coast, 4000 sq ft plus 2nd garage on prop, we are in s fla, rate is about avg compared to our neighbors for sq ft and such,
just got renewal and they want about $5400 for next yr so we are starting the search. My neighbors citizens went up quite a chuck as well. She got Florida Penninsula as best rate/coverage.

We have Tower Hill - no problems, but I honestly haven't had to deal with them. We're 5 miles from the beach and I think our rate is pretty low.

Liberty Mutual! but, they did a hard-sell on switching our car insurance too from USAA. They told us at the time that they're less likely to drop insurance on those who have more than one policy with them. Well anyone knows we're not switching from USAA, so we got life insurance for our kids instead. Whatever, we fell for it, but I think we're paying a good price (compared to the other quotes we received at the time). May be time to check AAA though. Reeeeeally wish USAA would start writing new homeowner's policies in FL again.
