When I went to bed last night they were only reporting 3 deaths from this horrific storm..

Got up this morning and the first thing that popped up on my home page was "Significant Number of Deaths Due To Hurricane".. The article then went on to say that at a mobile home park in Punta Gorda they had "stacks" of bodies.. :(

I am so sad to hear this - I was hopeful that loss of life was going to be very minimal.. My prayers go out to all of the poor families involved.. :( If you can spare a moment this morning, please say a prayer for all of these victims of this storm.....

Even if you do NOT have a spare moment, make one to say a prayer for all the victims who lost their lives and have lost their homes to this storm. And also remember to say "thank you" for the fact that you are alive and well and able to be on these boards today. I am sure there are a lot of folks out there who would be grateful this morning just to have a place to call home.
I know I will rest better when I know that Charley is just a memory.

I didn't realize it would be this bad! I have a BIL in Kissimmee and a nephew stationed in Panama City. I wasn't that concerned about them until I heard the news this morning!

My thoughts and prayers are with those down in Florida. I have a friend in the Orlando area, I hope she's alright.

I saw that news as well this morning. It's so sad. I feel for the families of these victims and those that have lost everything. It does make me take pause and realize how fortunate we are.

My parents have a place in the venice area.
Thankfully they are up in massachusetts right now. Does anyone know how hard it hit the Venice area??? thanks

Prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones, families and homes. Our thoughts and prayers will stay with you through the rebuilding and on.

Thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been effected by this hurricane. A lot of peoples' lives changed quickly and dramatically last night.

Venice would have gotten some strong winds, but the storm came in south of there, causing it to be on the "good side" of the storm.

I haven't heard any specific damage reports from that area.

I live in Venice, we were very lucky. Some trees and branches, some electric out, but that's all. It was nothing more than a really bad summer storm here.

Charley was heading straight for us, at the last minute turned east. Our good fortune was very bad luck for so many people south of us. Please keep these folks in your prayers and consider contributing to the Red Cross. They have many long weeks of work ahead of them.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims of the hurricane.

thanks for the update. My thoughts are with all those who had to weather the storm!

Prayers are being said for all , this loss of life is so sad.

Panama City is fine. The storm went up the other coast and the only thing we and the panhandle got was some rain.
My prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones in this awful storm.

I was hoping like you C.Ann, that the earlier reporting was going to be the bright spot in this....prayers indeed. I am blessed my family is o.k.....my heart goes out to all who have suffered due to Charley.

Panama City was not in the path of Charley at all so the cousin shoud be fine. Hope you hear form BIL soon and all is well.

Southeast FL was also spared. It's so errie how this thing went through FL and left the areas that were devasted by Andrew 12 years ago untouched when so much of the state was mowed over by this thing.

This is going to top Andrew as the worst storm in FL history. The scariest part is that we still have several months left of hurricane season and this isn't even "peak" season yet.

Thoughts are with everyone.

I was sad when I heard of the fatalities as well. I hope however, that this will help people to see that when the authorities say to evacuate, that it is not to be taken lightly. Had those people left the area as they were told they might still be here today. I know people hate leaving things that are theirs, but there is no way any human being could stop what happened and it is foolish to think that we can.

Prayers out to all....
