ok so ya there's WDW but on a day to day basis how do you beat the boredom? how do you beat the heat? what is there to do here besides WDW? *** im really bored lately

any waterparks (besides disneys)?
other places of interest? (besides the major attractions) other hidden little cheapo places to spend time?

how do i learn more about the state of FL? (friends happy just to clean dirt! lol)

Care to be a little more specific? Florida is a fairly large state and spread out from end to end. All sorts of things to do, but how far will you drive to get there? That sort of thing...

If you find out let me know.

I'm bored too. DS went to Gatorland with a friend today, DD is asleep. It is 91 out.

I thought about going to MK tonight for parade/fireworks but then I saw the wait times. Yuck.

It is DisBoard blasphemy but sometimes I really hate living in central FL.

It's 91 here too and I don't have a theme park or a water park for miles around. I am going to a movie tonight.

I did spend a month in Central FL a couple of years ago and I visited some of the smaller towns (some tourist areas/some not), some attractions I have always wanted to see but didn't have time. I made myself go to the pool (condo) every morning. I worked on some crafts when it was too hot to want to really go anywhere.

Basically I did all the things in Central FL that I would do in my home area if it was hot and I was bored.

Oh and I spent time on the computer too.

Liz

yup central FL here - Clermont - 30mins from wdw
recently moved (end of dec) - havent really had the chance to get out and explore

Video games. :lmao: I just started playing Zelda again on the Wii.

Yes, it is more hot and humid here in MO than Florida right now, which is a normal St. Louis summer. It feels like 105 with a heavy dewpoint of 75 which makes it impossible to breathe.

I am going out to my sister's today, weather be damned.:thumbsup2

Have you checked out the beaches? My wife and I really love Canaveral National Seashore. The beach is great and the Black Point Wildlife Drive is a must do.

The Orlando Zoo and Orlando Science Center are also worth taking a peak at.

You could also spend a nice morning checking out downtown Winter Park. The Farmer's Market is fun to go to on Saturday mornings.

The Farmer's Market in Celebration is also fun, but it's seasonal (October - May).

I work 8 hours a day in an air-conditioned office ... so there's a third of my day right there and I can hardly called it being bored.

1 hour commute or more back and forth every day in an air-conditioned car, equipped with my favorite music. No boredom there either, especially when I'm on the lookout for sandhill cranes and hawks.

Have a house to tend to, dinner to cook, TV to watch, computer e-mail and games, cats to pet and clean up after ... that takes up the evening and there's no boredom there either.

Typhoon Lagoon is my "back-yard pool" during the summer months.

Sunday farmer's market in Clermont + shopping on the weekend and house chores (okay, that can be boring .....)

How about St. Augustine for an overnight or weekend trip?

I couldn't live in the Orlando area. I would think the parks are the major attraction there. But we had LOTS to do in southeast FL! :thumbsup2

LOL for some reason this thread makes me laugh.

After the beaches, WDW, waterparks, malls, swimming, etc you need more ideas of what to do?

Surf the net', LOL.

Makes me tired just reading all you have to do.

Have Newholiday come to your house while you are at work. She can clean and cook and take care of your pets. She's no longer bored and you get a chance to relax ::yes::

That will be $25 from each of you, cash only please.

Sorry guys ... I'm in a silly mood today. :)

LOL S.C.!

I have a whole house of mess for someone to clean (and I have a newborn on my lap!) if anyone wants to come to Hawaii LOL.

That should keep you occupied for a few days ;)

The old retired people I know in FL do the following everyday. Or at least its what we do when we visit. :rotfl2:

Get up.
Sometimes they throw in tennis or golf in the morning before it gets hot or doctors appointments.
Go to breakfast at the Elks Lodge. Maybe $2.
Go home to A/C.
Eat a very light lunch at home. Usually its leftovers from dinner out the night before.
Stay in the house in the A/C.
Go to early bird dinner at restaurants or some other organization fundraiser. Take home leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
Go home to A/C.
Sometimes they go out at night to bingo or dancing or some other event arranged for old folks organizations.

One time we went to see the manatees at Blue Spring State Park. That was fun. I wish we would do more stuff like that when we visit relatives instead of just sitting around the house. Wicked cheap too.

:thumbsup2 We did that too! On the west coast on the Crystal river, Homasassa.

yup central FL here - Clermont - 30mins from wdw
recently moved (end of dec) - havent really had the chance to get out and explore
---------------------------
Then get in your car and drive around..:goodvibes When I go to visit my sister in Lady Lake (a little north of you) we drive around and find all kinds of neat (and cheap) things to see and do..

Have you driven up to The Villages yet? They're beautiful! Plus each one has free, live entertainment in their "town square" every single night..

Lots to see and do - you just have to get out there and find it! :thumbsup2

Well, yesterday, DD and I went to Universal City Walk and had lunch at Margaritaville. It started to rain, so we went home for a couple of hours. After it started to cool down a bit, we went for a walk around the neighborhood. Then, we jumped in the car and drove over to Tasty Treat for an ice cream. We came home and watched a DVD. DD picked it out. I can't believe it, but I watched "Sean of the Dead"! :scared1:

Today, I got up and went out to mow the yard. It was really hot. After finishing and cleaning up, DD and I went to Panara for lunch. We drove to West Oaks Mall to shop a couple of hours. Mostly DD shops and I follow her around. We got home about an hour ago. I plan on working on my ancestry research tonight.

Tomorrow, we are going to see "The Taking of Pelum 123". A friend of mine was the production manager on this film, so I am really looking forward to seeing it. After the movie, I'm sure we will walk around DTD and grab some dinner.

No big plans for Sunday yet. On Monday, I'm having some tile put down on my lanai, so I have to stay home. I'll probably work on my book.

I don't know. Somehow, I am always busy. I never have the time to get bored. OP, maybe you are trying to hard or looking for too much. It's the little things in life that keep me busy and happy.
