Florida High Speed Rail Project Stopped

easy to see where his "pork" comes from...............also it is simple shortsightedness........stepping over the dollar to save the penny...........you have to, lets say, build a bridge........so the state decides to build a two lane bridge instead of a six lane bridge cause it costs less........twenty years later they have to tear it down to build the six lane one because of increased traffic that they knew was coming........of course now production costs have more than quadrupled plus the demolition expense..........they could have saved millions and millions if they had done it right the first time.........this is the same thing..........alternate forms of transportation, or parallel interstates will become a necessity at some point. that is made obvious by the congestion already along that corridor. i would take the Feds money and a leap of faith and move into the future.

Wow, and the Feds are already ponying up more money for HSR projects...

Our new Governor did the same thing here in Ohio. We had the federal funding and all, and he said "Nope, sorry, take your money back!" :sad2: Idjut!

Can you say, "GM, Ford, Honda, Toyota and Mobil-Exxon paid me a visit..."

On the bright side, my area in NC now has access to all the HSR money that Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida have rejected. Our project was further down on the priority list and now thanks to Governer Scott et al we get our rail project.

I moved to Florida in December of 1994.

This was a hot topic then and has been, on and off, since then.

It will continue to be discussed long after we are all too old to make use of it.

Even though I knew he was going to turn it down, I was so disappointed when he actually did it.

NOT getting political here, but this happens all the time when the two levels of government are run by different political parties. Here in Toronto, the mayor is a "tea party" type, the provincial leader is liberal, and the national leader is a more moderate conservative. They never agree on anything.

Ya'll can all have the money that Houston is getting for its "toy train." It serves no public good and is a money pit, like most other public transportation in Houston. Everyone here has to have their car and there is no changing that common mindset in the near future.

Never have I regretted not being able to discuss politics on The Dis more than at this very moment.

There is SO much more going on here that the mainstream media is not telling you.

Suffice it to say, people do not change, not really, and he was voted into office anyway.

"Let's get to work", indeed.

Agreed.

Waste of $$$

Me too. Let me just say that I LOVE living in Florida, except for the politics.

Passenger trains are money losers, just check out Amtrak. It is foolish to believe that a HSR would not be underwritten by taxpayers.
