Florida Beaches? Siesta Key, or surrounding Key or Ft Myers Beach

Another vote for Siesta Key here. It is the most beautiful beach with white quartz sand that doesn't get hot on the feet even when the temperature is soaring. My parents live in Venice, so when we visit, Siesta Key is the only beach for me. I wish we could stay right on the beach, but my parents would be hurt if we didn't stay in Venice with them. I'd like to sneak down and not tell them we are in Florida. If I ever hit the lottery, I'll be buying a place on the beach there. LOL
Siesta key is sooo nice.

i have to say though, in all fairness, any of those beaches are gorgeous. Having spent many years traveling worlds' beaches, I think Florida has some if not many of the BEST. GL

Do any of the places in Siesta key have less than a 7 day minimum?

During the "off season" there is usually a 3-night minimum. I believe the "off season" includes the summer months. There are several little boutique motel/hotels on Sara Sea Circle that do not usually have minimums during certain times of the year....try The Capri Inn, Tropical Shores, The Captiva.....these are not right on the beach, but a 3-minute walk to Crescent Beach. Also try The Beach Club...very nice units....they are right behind the Hyatt Siesta Key (Hyatt - pricey, but large 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units with complimentary breakfast, small pool, beach chairs and canopies on Crescent Beach).

DH and I went for 2-nights by ourselves in August......stayed at The Capri Inn...small room, but sufficient for us for only 2 nights. Great lobster alfredo and cornbread at The Lobster Pot in Siesta Key Village! Yummy fresh fried donuts from the little shack next door!!

Are there many fun beach bars in Siesta Key? Thinking of going there for a girls weekend and would love some fun (but not too crazy) places to have a couple drinks after a day on the beach. Just emailed a few owner at the Sea Shell but does anyone else have any recommendations on places to stay? How big is the Siesta Key village? Should we try to find a place within walking distance of that?

I don't find that the Keys beaches are anything to write home about. There's nicer beaches on the West coast of FL. We vacation every August before school starts in Naples/Marco Island/Ft. Myers. The last few years we've stayed exclusively at The Naples Beach hotel & Golf Club in Naples. it is like caribbean resort living without the plane ride, lol.

The beaches in the Keys are rocky and have very little sand compared to the white, powdery beaches on the west coast of FL.

The resort I mentioned before usually has deals during certain seasons. We book at a group rate and get an awesome deal. While there we eat at Joe's Crab Shack (I know it's a chain but we don't have one in Miami so it's new to us, lol), Brooks Gourmet Burgers and Dogs (delish burgers!!), 5th Ave has tons of shopping and restuarants and it's super close to the resort (maybe a mile away), crunchy thin crust pizza at Peppi's Pizzeria (nice people who are actually from Italy, and amazing food at a good price).

There are several bars with live music...especially on the weekends...not to sure about during the week. In Siesta Key Village there is SKOB (Siesta Key Oyster Bar) and Daquiri Deck...I think those are the two most well-known ones.....there are probably be more, but I am not too up to date on the bar scene anymore. Near Sea Shell there is Captain Curts right across the street...and I think another bar right there also. I don't think there are any directly on the beach....as the beach has mostly condos....no restaurants or shops....except all the way south by Turtle Beach (no soft white sand!).

There are places to stay closer to the village, but we prefer Crescent Beach near Point of Rocks which is at the south end of the beach.....near the village is the public beach which can get really crowded on the weekends.
