Hi there everybody!
Well we just returned from two incredible weeks in the Sunshine State, well mostly in the Sunshine State . "Mostly?" you say... Yes, mostly. I guess that i should clarify things a bit at first. Our vacation consisted of 4 days in Florida (both Fort Lauderdale and Cocoa Beach), 7 days at sea aboard the Freedom of the Seas ) and finally ended with a bang with four fantastic days in the World (AKL to be exact!) . We liked to look at it this way - it was a 3 part vacation, and i must say, it was just great.
So the next question is simple - who is "we"?
Well, let me tell you, "we" is me, my DW, my DFIL (is that right? for father-in-law?, either way, that's how we're gonna roll here) and my DMIL (mother-in-law? judges?....yes, judges are agreeing with me, we'll go with that).
This is my first trip report, and as an avid reader of the Disboards for so long i felt that this was the best time for me to go ahead and try to put together my own reviews. DW and I have been to Disney World 3 times in the last 4 years, so we're pretty familiar with the best known restaurants and how this whole thing works. How did i fare? Well, i'll say this, it was definitely tricky at first to try and remember to take out my camera to take pics of the food. As you'll see here, some meals are essentially omitted because of said forgetfulness. But don't worry! I did get lots and lots of great food pics to feed your insatiable appetites...you animals
So let's preview the reviews, shall we?
Like i said we spent our first four days in Florida, so obviously I've got to include some of our meals for that part of the trip. I should also mention that NONE of these restaurants have locations where we are from, so they were both (a) planned well in advance and (b) very exciting for us!
Day 1:
Checkers...oh Checkers, if only you weren't bolted to the ground (or were an inanimate object) you and i could run away together, buy a nice small to medium-sized SUV (nothing too flashy, something conservative), a Labradoodle or some other nice hypoallergenic sporting dog and go antiquing on weekends. Umm, yeah...so Checkers was pretty good.
Olive Garden: DW's favourite (yeah, i'm from Canada, we spell favourite with a "u"...it's weird)
Day 2:
Popeye's/Taco Bell...giggity.
Red Lobster (i had the song "Safety Dance" stuck in my head, but I kept replacing the word "safety" with the word "lobster", try it, it will drive you crazy)
Day 3:
Cracker Barrel...hoooome cookin'! (DFIL's fav )
Ruby Tuesday (guess which song i had stuck in my head while we were here? ...it was Dancing in the Dark, moving on...)
Day 4:
Checkers round 2! I didn't want to seem too desperate so i waited a few days before calling Checkers back, it seemed aloof and distant, maybe antiquing is not in our future...for now.)
Chili's (side note, by this time we were joined by both my DBIL and DSIL for our cruise - they would not be coming to the World because of time restrictions)
Days 5-11: Cruising (sorry no cruise food pics!)
What you've all been waiting for...
Day 12: Snacks and 'Ohana!
Day 13: Flame Tree BBQ and Boma
Day 14: Sunshine Seasons and WPE
Day 15: The Mara and California Grill
Of course, there are snack pics and whatnot in between, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. Looking forward to starting my review and hope you guys will come along for the ride! Oh, and if Checkers calls, act like I'm out doing something fun, i don't want to make myself too available...
