Flordia Move - East or West coast, which would you prefer?

I live East coast and also vote East! West coast is just too sleepy for me. I love the action, culture and nightlife of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. All these cities are so different and they are a short drive from where I am.
The beaches are beautiful on all sides of FL, just different. BTW - even on the East I have manatees swimming by my house almost every day and we just saw a big pod of dolphins while we were fishing this weekend. I love the waves and do not like having to do the stingray shuffle on the west coast. (I was once at a beach in St. Pete and I counted 35 beachgoers that got stuck.)

Wow, now I'm even more confused. I'm guessing we have to plan a visit to see both coasts and if we have to stop at Mickys house inbetween that might not be such a bad idea. LOL Can anyone recommend any nice communities? Thanks for all the replies, you are the best!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I would pick the Atlantic coast if we had to choose. In reality, we would probably just move back to Winter Park and drive to the beach.

i've lived on both coasts and both have nice beaches. the gulf is nice and calm which i prefer over the atlantic. a nice area on the east coast is the juno/jupiter area and a nice area over here is ft.myers beach,sanibel,captiva. it is alot quieter over here more to do on the east coast except maybe the tampa area.

I am going to bump this up.

We are interested in buying a co-op/condo overlooking the water and we really have no idea where to look. We would love a moderatly priced place in a nice area.

Does anyone have any info on Merritt Island on the space coast? We saw a few waterview condo's online that looked nice.

OP, did you decide yet where to purchase?

I spent 11 years living in a coastal town on the East Coast. I always said I would never live by the ocean again.
Well now we are moving to the west coast of Florida (just above Clearwater) and it is so darn beautiful. The beaches are gorgeous, the water so clear and warm. I'm so looking forward to it.
I honestly never thought I would live by the ocean again.
