Hi everyone, I am wondering if there are any suggestions out there for life jackets or any kind of flotation device. We will be in the world in just 15 days :cool1: I need to purchase some kind of flotation device for my kids DS3 and DD7. DD loves the pool but has been scared of swim lessons, don't ask, she started last year in the lake with some lessons but cannot swim yet. DS, well he's 3 he needs something. I was hoping to find some kind of life vest to use for them, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

I am a lifeguard and a swim instructor. You should get a lifejacket, not arm floaties. Make sure the jacket fits right, make sure they can't slide out if they put their arms up. Also look for jackets that have a strap that goes between the legs. (do not buy one they can grow into, too big is bad) And make sure an adult is in the water with the kids at all times and is close enough to help if they turn over and can't right themselfs.
You should be able to find good lifejackets at a sporting goods store.

We bought PuddleJumpers last year - Target, Walmart, BJ's carry them. They are like arm swimmies/floaties/wings and a chest floatation device in one. My girls really like them, We had a vest fro DD#2 who is almost 5 but very petite - it was an infant vest but would ride up so it was all the way up to her chin, she didn't like it. This is much more comfortable for her. They can take up some space in the luggage though so be prepared.

if you are staying onsite, the last 3 resorts we stayed at had lifejackets there for you to use

The pools DO have life jackets for use free of charge. The problem is, they don't stock enough in all the sizes. The XS and S tend to run out. THAT would be a problem.

My suggestion is to buy the Speedo Neoprene Life Vest (blue for boys, pink for girls). You can get this NOW at any Target store, or online at Amazon.com. It's this one:

We have used these for both our boys. They work GREAT, are slim profile, so the kids have freedom of movement in the water, and do NOT tip your child forward or back, but keeps them upright in the water. These are very easy to fit in a suitcase and dry quickly.

I wish we'd brought ours for our DS4 a couple weeks ago at BC. They kept running out of size S life vests. XS was too small, M was TOO BIG!!!
