We have a DCL booked for next September and are staying on-site the night before. I just realized that we'll be flying to Disney on the Friday of Labor Day weekend and instantly started panicking about flight prices. My dilemma is - do I book now ($264pp from Newark) or has the price historically gone up or down on this route? It's hurricane season but also Labor Day weekend so I'm not sure. I was hoping someone here would be able to help, I tried to look at historical rates online but my company has the site blocked!

We bought our flights around Labor Day 2008 in July and got really good prices. Now we were travelling a few days away from the holdiay weekend itself but prices weren't nearly as punishing as they are for popular winter periods (like school vacation). It being Hurricane season keeps a lot of folks away, and the fact that school starts before Labor Day in a number of districts is going to reduce your competition.

So I'd say hold off unles you see something great. In your shoes I'd wait for JetBlue to come out with fares, since we prefer to fly them anyway. Then again should there be a weather disruption, you will probably want to be on Newark's primary carrier, Continental, since they will have the most flights to offer in case of trouble.

We travelled over Labor Day weekend in 2007 (left Friday night, came back Tuesday morning PHL to MCO) and the prices were very good, actually some of the cheapest I have ever flown and we always get reasonable airfare. I would wait a little. I took a last minute trip in August this year and we were considering several weekends including labor day and airfare was very good again as well (even though we ended up going the weekend before).

I flew JFK to MCO this past labor day weekend, I left friday night the flight was full but I paid 234 RT and only made the reservations in the beginning of July.
