Flights of Wonder opening delayed

Thanks for that info! That is my daughter's (turning 11 -- bday trip) favorite show in all the parks. She is a huge bird lover and I was looking forward to a reimagined show. Hope it doesn't delay again, our AK day is 4/25 and we're bummed about the RoL delay.

Are they reimagining the actual show?

I though they were just putting a roof on the place.

Thanks.:)

First I've heard of the show being "re-imagined."
They closed FoW for adding a roof over the theater.

And, I'd be very nervous if they decided to "re-imagine" that show.
It was absolutely great as-is.

Who knows what a re-design would look like in these days of ridiculous budget (and CAST) cuts.
What if they decided that having two cast members on stage was an unnecessary expense?
That kind of "re-imagining" could kill this great little gem of a show!

My FOB support group can rejoice...we don't have to worry about it opening on time! LOL. Wonders of Flight is one of my favorite shows.

Flights of Wonder continues to be closed for refurbishment. It is anticipated to be offering shows again by April 17.

I am hoping it will be running on 4/19. We missed it on our first trip and was looking forward to it this trip

Nooooooooooo. *cry*
Thanks for the update. My MIL loves birds and I've talked this up. She's really excited. :worried:

Edit: OH! Hahahahah silly me, we'll be there May 2nd. For some reason I thought May 17th instead of April!

Great show. First time hubby will see it, hopefully in May while we are there.

I like the show but do think that the plot could use a little freshening up. The tour guide character is getting stale for me and the guy that played him last time wasn't very good in playing him. i wouldn't say a drastic overhaul but a few updates might be welcomed.

It can't be stale for guests who have not seen the show (which is, by far, most people.)

Asking of for "updates" in a show because you have seen it is like requesting a movie be reshot with new scenes because you have seen it.

This time, can't the Lion throw water on the witch and the Scarecrow ask for a new hat instead of a heart.
That old movie is so stale!

New visitors won't find it stale but I still think that most visitors are repeat vsitors who will have seen it before.
Its been almost 20 years now with no changes at all so I think they got their money;s worth out of that script. I said I liked the show but don;t think that the script was handed down in tablets from the mountain.

Well... I'm not really upset, since no FOW certainly opens up and simplifies my AK day. I always enjoy it, but it's not make-or-break. Call me naive, but I'm going to remain optimistic that it will come back as good as or better than before.

Why did it need a roof? I quite enjoyed the open-air look and it seemed as though the birds were well-enough trained that it would be unnecessary.

I took an Environmental Science class in college where I learned guano is bird poop. I don't think that's very commonly known as I'm very often the only one chuckling at Guano Joe's name.

Changing FOW might be a lot harder to do than most shows. It would require retraining the birds which I would think is harder than getting humans used to new shows.

I was bummed that we missed it in March:( Surely, it will be open by July.
