Flights of Passage without a fastpass - first thing in AM or last thing in PM?

We were there two weeks ago and got the park entrance 1 hour early. We were out of the ride one hour after park opening. The line "moved" so it didn't seem so bad.

You are wasting ‘free’ time waiting, rather than paid for park time.

But time isn’t free, and those that arrived 2 hours early probably won’t still be around later in the evening when the lines get really short.

I guess a better question may have been why arrive 2 hours early to wait when you can hop in the same line later in the day and wait about 20 minutes.
