I am hearing great things about Flights of Passage, but have a lazy eye - which means I dont adapt well to 3D. Tried movies and while the image isn't bothersome, halfway through I get headaches and nausea. Has anyone with similar mono-vision issues been on this ride? How did it work out for you? Got to decide whether to book an FP soon

I've been wondering the same thing!

Same as you, lazy eye. I've had surgery and vision therapy but my 3D vision is still not great. I do pretty well with the new style 3D movies, but the old red and blue glasses? Forget it.

I hope someone out there can tell us about FOP!

How do you do on Star Tours at HS? I do ok on that, so maybe FOP is similar?

I have vertigo and I am wondering if I should ride FOP. I really don't want to make the vertigo flare up!

One way to fix any problems with the 3D is to
take some small post-it notes and stick one over the 3D glasses lens on your "lesser" eye.

That way, you'll see everything in "2d" (flat image) via your "better" eye, but the picture will not be blurry.

I have no problems at all with star tours. If they are similar, im good.

Hey, good point, I may try that!

The screen for FOP is much closer to you than on Star Tours. You are sitting as close to the screen as C3PO is. I'm petrified of heights. On FOP, I tilted my head so I always had a piece of the wall or floor in view. I had one eye closed, and screamed a lot! My DH said I was the only person who exited the ride not saying how beautiful it was. IT WAS beautiful! I just couldn't enjoy it and take it all in. I was so scared of the unknown. The minute I got off, I wished I could of ridden it again with my eyes open!! Next year, I'll enjoy it more.

I also have a lazy eye. Rode FOP twice and absolutely loved it. Most 3-D movies I do not experience the 3-D effects but never experience headaches or nausea. I doubt that I saw the full 3-D effect on FOP, but all I can say it was amazing. Try it at least once. Sometimes I close my bad eye if image on screen is bothersome (not FOP but other 3-D experiences).

I wonder if wearing these instead would work: https://www.amazon.com/2D-Glasses-Pack-eDimensional-Televisions/dp/B00K9E7GCC

I have a prism issue in my eyes, where the brain doesn't "reattach" the information from both eyeballs properly, so where you see two fingers, I might see four. My glasses fix it, but seeing 3D movies, oh boy it's a game of futility!

They block the vision of the 3D film of one eye (using an off-axis polarizing lens.)
So they, in effect, (for the film image) do the same thing as my "Post-it hack."

However, it appears that the glasses from Amazon don't give the wearer a choice as to WHICH eye's image gets blacked out. So, if the user has a specific need to block one particular eye's vision over the other, there's a 50% chance the glasses will actually be blocking the wrong eye.

It appears that the glasses from THIS Amazon link will allow guests to pick from glasses
that will block the 3D image, but allow viewing from a SPECIFIC eye (user can choose which glasses suit her/his need.)

My son has a slight lazy eye (I didnt notice it myself and the eye doctor had to tell me he had it) because his vision in one eye is 20/30 and the other 20/70 so he basically has a good eye and and a bad eye and brain only want to use the image from the good eye when he's not wearing his glasses. for 3d movies he has to wear the 3D glasses over his own glasses. For monovision folks with glasses this is a ride to keep you glasses on for.

I am not sure if they would allow you to wear your own 3D classes, and I am not sure if they would be compatible with this attraction.

You sound like me. And I'm on the fence if I want to try this one. We only have one FP, in the end was it not that bad??

The worst part of the ride, for me, was the dangling on top of the cliffs. The views are stunning! I was trying to enjoy it. But my fear of heights took over. And not knowing what to expect next. I will definitely ride it again and I believe I will enjoy it much more the second time.

If you get scared at any time, just look away off the screen. It's really an incredible ride that everyone must experience at least once.

So looking away, or closing your eye, completely alleviated your fear? I'm told the seat only goes side to side, not up and down.

Yes. The seat is like a motorcycle video game seat you'd find in any arcade. It only moves side to side and dips slightly forward. That's why I had my head tilted to the wall to view the floor and one eye opened. I wanted to see what was happening! But the cliffs scared me. Yet it was honestly beautiful. It's stunningly gorgeous but difficult to enjoy if you don't like heights. But when you close your eyes, you're fine.

The next time I would keep both eyes open and try to enjoy it more.

I do have to say Soarin doesn't bother me. I don't get nervous on that but this is just different. It's more realistic.

If your only fear is heights, you will be fine. Just close your eyes but try to watch most of it. It's really breathtaking.

Ok thanks very much. :)

My husband can't 'see' the 3D at the movie theater, he gets a headache at Philharmagic and the Muppets 3D in DHS, he can only sort of see Star Tours. He said that the 3D in FOP is the best 3D he has ever experienced, and no headache during or after.
