Just wanted to give you guys a heads up....we have two flights booked through Alaska for DL trips in Dec. and Jan. I heard on the news the other day they were cutting flights, etc. I just called and both trips, both ways, were changed. You are able to make changes from where Alaska bumps you. You might want to be proactive and be able to choose what you want before flights fill up. The flight changes worked out to my advantage for the most part...but still requires some juggling.

I heard this as well, quite a few airlines are cutting flights. Also, they're planning on raising prices until at least Sprin 2009.

Yikes. I never did this with my flights in 3 weeks. I guess I'll call sometime next week and ask....

Do you just call and say something like, you want to confirm the times and dates of your flights?

The news reports here (Seattle) say that the Alaska changes are taking effect in November (layoffs and flight cancellations). Anyone earlier notice changes to their schedules? I guess I'll have to call tomorrow to check on my late-Oct flights!

Thanks for letting us know. We'll be going in Dec. also so I'll check with them. What airport will you be flying into?

Thanks for the info. We are going in March, and I just checked our flights. So far, all is good.

We are flying at peak times (leave PDX at around 11am - leave SNA around 1:30pm) so I doubt they will change. Always good to keep on the up-and-up though.

Ours got changed early in summer. We were originally flying into LGB from Seattle, getting in at 2:30, but they cut that flight and bumped us up to one that arrives past 5 p.m. I called them up and explained that we needed to get in earlier than that, and I'd even changed our flights at the cost of $50 each to get that earlier flight. So they switched us to an earlier flight into SNA for the same cost. So it worked to our advantage, in the end.

Thanks for posting! Luckily my flights between Spokane and LAX in December only changed by a few minutes. Since I am coordinating with my Mom and sister's flights it could have been much, much worse.

Thanks again for heads up!

We are flying into LAX, we always do. People say it is hectic but we have never had an issue and the airport did not seem any different to us than PDX.

We were also flying at peak times and the flights were pretty full when we booked them and they were still changed.

I looked up via the website to confirm our flights and it told me I had to call into AA manually as there were schedule changes. I am glad I did it now instead of waiting until the weeks before and finding out the flights we would have changed to are booked.

Our flights are from Vancouver to LAX at the beginning of November. I noticed last week that our return flight had been cancelled. I called and rebooked for later the same day we had originally scheduled. Seats were already filling up. Good thing I noticed or we all may not have been sitting together. Keep an eye on your flights!!!

Thanks for the warning. I checked the website and got the message about calling in. I did call this morning and our flight home has been changed by 20 minutes. Whew! Our schedule is tight and there isn't much wiggle room, so I'm glad it was a small change.

I think it is a good idea for everyone to watch flights closely. It looks like Alaska is going through a round of layoffs, cancellations, and changes, so even flight confirmed now might change in the near future. I know our flight to WDW last Christmas was changed three times before we left.

We're flying on Alaska in October and received an e-mail two weeks ago that there was a change to our flight. Our flight was cancelled and they were putting us on a flight that got in a few hours later. A quick call to them and they were very nice about changing us to an earlier flight....no hassles, no change fees.

I agree....We always fly into LAX also...no problems. I have always flown from/to large airports so it doesn't bother us at all. I was wondering what airport you were using because we are using LAX also. I just checked my flight status online, and it says to call them because a flight has been changed. I checked the site and my return flight to Seattle from LAX doesn't exist any longer. I really appreciate the heads up because now I can call them and hopefully I'll have more say in what flight I am bumped to than if I had done it later. Thanks a bunch! :)

Long time lurker, but I wanted to add the Alaska agent I spoke with on Friday, regarding our December flights, said they would most likely change again.

Keep an eye on them for sure. :)

Your very welcome. I think they should have emailed us and let us know about the changes....makes me curious when they were going to notify me. I am a proactive person....they moved us to fly home at 7 a.m. on a Saturday morning from a 10:30 a.m. flight. That dice don't roll and I had them switch me to a 10:55 a.m. departure on the new flight. I would have freaked if we would have had to get DS up at 4 a.m.

Well isn't that dandy!!

Thank you OP.
Just last week I mad my ressies for Alaska SEA to LGB, but not untill April 09. I am shocked that all those who have a change of flight do not seem to be notified. This has made me very aware that I need to be proactive an continuously check my flights.

Even more so, one of the 4 of us are flying "companion Ticket", I would hate at last minute to have to buy her a $500 ticket because all the "what ever class a companion ticket are" are sold out....yickes!!

Again, thank you
