Flight times.

In general: What are usually the quieter, less crowded flight times? Anyone have any ideas?

What flights are likely to have fewer kids? We may fly Southwest, so I'm thinking in terms of fewer pre-boards. I also had a miserable flight last year where the three kids behind us were wrestling, kicking the seats and playing the drums on the tray while Mom & Dad sat elsewhere with the baby and the oldest, thus not paying a bit of attention to the three who were abusing our seats.

If you are flying to Orlando, pretty much every flight will be loaded with kids!

I would think the later flights would have less children. We took an evening flight home on our last trip and the flight was delayed once we finally took off it was quite late (we were the last flight pulling into Newark airport that night) the children on the flight were so tired they fell asleep. The quietest flight to or from disney. Another option is if you fly an airline where you can pick your seating you can try to sit by the doors children can't sit in that row you could sit one seat up from there than you would'nt have children sitting behind you. Oh yeah...good idea! I'll have to keep that in mind too.

We are also looking at flying into Tampa as an option. And I'm still trying to decide if we should fly in and out of the same airport or into one and out of the other.

When we have flown SW out of TAmpa, there were a lot fewer kids...it was actually quite pleasant!! It's an easy drive to WDW from Tampa Intl...about 90 mins at most. It took me an hour 10 mins on an early Sat morning.
If you fly SW, I would try to wait until most of the kids are already boarded, then find seats in front of some older folks that won't be as apt to be bothersome....no seat kicking, grabbing onto, sticking their hands through..that sort of thing!!

I can tell you that I will not be dragging my kids out of bed at 3 am to make the 6:30am flight - so if you can get up for that one it may have fewer kids. When we went pre-kids we took the early flights and had no problems with the few very tired kids that were on them. Also, take the latest flight home. Same thing - fewer kids, and the few that will be on them will be very tired! And I promise to make sure that my kids do NOT kick any seats or wrestle!

I have to agree that the later flights have fewer kids, but they are also more likely to be delayed and/or cancelled. My mom flew SWA last summer to MCO on a flight that was supposed to leave at 6:30 p.m.and did not leave PHL until 11:00 p.m. Needless to say, she was exhausted by the time she got to MCO, although her ME shuttle was waiting for her! Cancellations/delays are more likely in times of bad weather, i.e., snow/thunderstorms, but it can also be caused by bad weather at airports nearby. I like the earlier flights, but they are popular with families.

We have flown to MCO on early flights, midday flights, and late night flights and they are ALL filled with kids. I prefer the earlier flights only because they tend to have fewer delays (although that's not always the case.)

Head to the back. Most of the screaming kids are in the front because of preboards. I always sit exit row or behind, never had a problem with kids screaming or kicking.
