We leave today out of Newark on Jetblue. I have been tracking the flight status and all was good. All of a sudden we have a delay. The flight was suppose to leave at 6:40pm, now it will leave at 7:30pm. My question is, does a delayed flight ever go back to leaving at the original time? Should I get there as if it were leaving at 6:40pm just to be safe?
Thanks!

Yes I would get ther at your regular time .They may catch back up with the time delay or even switchout planes if need be.50 mins is not that bad of an extra wait for peice of mind. You might not be as rushed to get through knowing this but I would still make sure you are atleast at security at about the original flight time.

I generally call the airline and get them to tell me what is going on when I see this. They normally can tell you what the problem is and what to do OR if there is any hope of getting back on schedule.

For example, in Nashville if the flight was arriving late then there was nothing anyone could do. Chaning out a plane is not as common as you might think even in hub citites like Atlanta. In this day and age the airlines just don't keep "spares" around.

My last flight out of Birmingham when the plane was SUPPOSE to leave BHM it was still on the ground in Louisville. I actually tracked it out of Louisville to decide when to go to the airport.

I believe they must still honor your ticket as-is on a later flight (and for your return trip) if you show up in timely fashion for the flight as announced, but you would not be entitled to bump compensation unless you showed up in timely fashion for the original departure time.

Also, even if the flight is delayed, they may (and often do) close baggage check-in at the scheduled time for the original flight schedule. So if you get to the airport an hour after the scheduled departure but an hour before the flight is actually set to depart, they may tell you that it will not be possible to check any bags.

On our last flight out of EWR on JetBlue, they boarded on time for the 3:25PM flight, went to the runway and waited 1 1/2 hours for clearance to take-off. I don't remember if they changed the departure time on-line or on the terminal screens. I would call 1-800-JETBLUE..
I just looked online and the 3:25PM is scheduled for 4:13PM and the 6:40PM is scheduled for 8:55PM, these are today's flights from EWR to MCO.
Also, the last two flights today leaving MCO for EWR are delayed too.

I've found that anytime a flight is delayed that far ahead, it almost always ends up longer. Already it looks like it went from 6:40 to 7:30 to 8:55, now it looks like 9:20. It's probably too late now, but I would get to the airport early and see if they can put you on an earlier flight.

We are flying on this same JetBlue flight on November 30. I just checked and it still has 9:20PM as the departure time. I'd be interested in knowing how your flight went.

Newark is one of the worst airports for timeliness, but the weather today is the culprit. I've been looking at this flight over the last two weeks and only on a couple of occassions did it actually leave on time. I'm sure that's more to do with EWR than JetBlue. Our return flight has left MCO on time virtually every day except on bad weather days in NJ.

Well, the flight was a nightmare!!! By the time we got to the airport we had 2 more delays!! They said it was because of the weather. We didn't leave till about 10pm!!! We hit alot of turbulence. We arrived at MCO around 12:30-1am. There were alot of unhappy people at Newark!! The departure area was packed, the store there ran out of sodas, and juice. It was a total nightmare and we will not be flying at night with the kids anymore! It wasn't Jetblue's fault and they were great. Next time we will try flying out of Stewart, it's closer to our house, smaller, and will just be easier for us.

The 12th was a bad day for air travel in the NYC area. Quite a few ground delays on incoming flights, etc. I flew out of JFK that same evening and we had A LOT of turbulence all the way to the west coast.

Hope your trip went well!

I know from speaking with JetBlue the EWR and JFK routes act almost like shuttles. As already suggested they can tell you the "schedule of the day" for your plane. So a 10am flight delay causes the 9pm to delay.

While I love JETBlue above Continental, 2 9pm flights out of MCO landing in Newark at 3am in the last 6 months has soured me a bit!

Now it's our turn today on JetBlue #527... already delayed 80 minutes. You're right about the "shuttle". The first flight left MCO this morning on time and landed on time (first of 3 flights prior to ours - so we have early hopes!). JetBlue lists the return flight as departing on time; however, Flight Tracker doesn't show anything. The plane must have left the gate on time, but as things go at EWR it probably sat and taxied for an extended time. That flight is now airborne and will arrive 30 minutes late. Now the return flight to EWR is showing an additional hour or so on the ground - no idea why and there you have our early 80 minute delay for the scheduled 6:40 flight to MCO.
