Flight Costs

Was looking at prices of flights for my December trip, and they are much more expensive since last year. Or is it because I'm looking so early? Last year I booked my flight in May for my Oct trip, so should I just wait a few months to see if the fares go down some?

It's possible, but also prices themselves are expected to be rising over the next few years, faster than prices for other things, because the industry was losing so much money with the prices the way they were.

We had vouchers with Delta and bought our December tickets when the flights opened up ($330.68 each). Today I noticed the tickets are down to $266.20. I called and after the $50 change fee I got vouchers for $14.48. I HATE the change fee. The Delta Rep. said I would only get the $14.48 and I said fine because I found a better flight and I will use the $14.48 some other time. Better in my pocket than theirs.

Check out Delta for your December flight because prices might have come down for you too.

You just have to keep checking. We're going to Miami in May and the flights have been around $185 but this morning, they were at $102. Unbelievable difference. I thought, "Oh right. But I bet nothing's opened for our dates" but was I surprised. We got round trip tickets to Miami from Pittsburgh airport for $126 each. Straight flight down and a 1 1/2 hour layover in Chicago on the way home. Hope it works out for you too.

I wouldn't be so hard on the Change Fee. I remember reading somewhere the the Change Fee results in an average fare reduction of about $25, each way. So as long as you stick with what you've got, you really benefit from the Change Fee.
