Has anyone every brought a flask filled with rum into the dining room to make rum and coke? Will they let you do this openly?

No....but you could soak your socks with rum and then "wring them out" into your glass.
( I sincerely hope you were kidding with that question )

I plan on having my NY Yankees flask with me filled with rum :drinking1 . For the price of 2 mixed drinks, I can bring my own and have a lot more over the course of the cruise.

I'm not sure why you were hoping the OP was kidding when they asked the question...

I didn't see anyone doing that on our cruise...but then again I wasn't looking for it either. I don't see why you couldn't do it...if you must have a rum and coke with dinner and not wait until after dinner time...after all people bring there own bottles of wine to dinner...and they offer diffrent mixed drinks on the menu ....so what's the diffrence?

I think you should ask yourself....will I feel comfortable pulling my flask out and mixing my drink at dinner...if the answer is yes...then go for it??

You could always bring a glass already mixed to dinner. There is nothing at all wrong with this since DCL allows you to bring your own bottles on board.

Ditto....Lisa, I always stopped at the bar before dinner and picked up a mohito sp? Then took it into dinner....Now, if you bring one there is nothing wrong with buying another?

Yes. This is permissable. You ARE allowed to bring your cocktail into the dining room
People who bring their own wine are charged a corkage fee and are allowed to bring their own bottle on the premise of personal preference / availability. If you think for a minute that ANY cruise line would approve of someone toting a flask of rum into the dining room and mixing their own cocktails I strongly encourage you to pose that question to DCL and post their reply here. .
I don't get it. You're paying thousands of dollars to go on a cruise and you're willing to go to extremes to save what........fifty bucks? (How many cocktails will you have during dinner each night .....maybe two?)
What's next.... tipping with intentionally bad checks?

I don't know if you could but I certainly would not. Would you walk into a restaurant at home toting a flask with you to make a drink in there?? Make your drink and carry it in with you if you must have a drink.

S&D Mom, so sorry to read all those other posts that tended to give you a hard time. Some people think it is tacky to take drinks into the restaurants. Well, I do it all the time and have no problem with it. In fact, I have even taken a carafe into the restaurants (do a search on this and you will enjoy reading all the past posts and even a picture or two).

Many people ask "Why bother when you are paying all that money"? Well, I like my wine. I have special wines that I match with each meal. I like spending time before a cruise thinking about what wine to pack for each dinner/meal.

If you want to take rum....take rum. It's your cruise and if that makes you happy than do it. DCL will not care! And yes, I am the guy who took 26 bottles on wine on the 10 Christmas Cruise.

You look like the man I need to talk to. My husband was wondering if he could bring his own beer on board. Did you just get a room servce bucket and fill it with ice and tote your beers to dinner? Help!

As did we. Well, not 26, but brought 6 bottles and enjoyed some of Scuba's 26 also. :teeth:

Actually, the bucket is one the servers the last 3 years set up for me, at first it was a joke then it turned into a good idea. Remember buy 5 get one free!!! That bucket is a wine chilling bucket...

Same deal on CC and you get a neat souvineer bucket....like the one between our chair
