FL Tours-negative

We just returned from our 4/5-4/10 trip to Pop Century. We used FL Tours to and from the airport. We had a different driver for each leg of the trip. While each one was courteous and on time, (I acknowledge that these are both important), neither one said a word to us that wasn't a necessary comment or question. ("Did you want to stop at the store?" and "Which airline? United? OK") I was really expecting the nice, talkative drivers that everyone talks about here on the boards. Also, when he picked us up at the airport, we had a van, not a towncar, which was a little disappointing. When the driver picked us up to go back to the airport, he spent at least 5 minutes trying to jam our luggage into the trunk, with my DH having a heart attack watching him and the other taxi drivers at the hotel almost making fun of him. I felt bad for him, although I was a little angry. I don't mean to sound like I am whining, but it just wasn't what I was expecting. Just wanted to let you know that they aren't always wonderful, like I thought.

I have never used FL Tours before but have used Tiffany many times. Each and every time, my DH and I hope we get a driver who is courteous but not "chatty". We are one of those families who finds it annoying to have a driver who tries to get us to talk to him. I'm paying for prompt courteous transportation, not for their conversation and enjoyment of their company.

It sounds like, other than the cramming of the luggage, it was good service that you got and that's all you should hope for.

You would have hated me as a driver. I cannot concentrate on driving while I talk/ chat endlessly. I would be courteous, efficinent and would chat with you at stop lights, toll boths or any other time we were stopped, but, constant chatter, nah, beside, it is annoying to some people.

I do not think anyone was offended - just stating their preference. I much prefer a driver who drives and does not chat - I like to use the 30 minutes or so to just rest and relax. But that is my preference - not yours......


But it may be that people think the title of the thread "negative" is mis-leading.

You certainly did not offend me. Just offering MHO. After the usual screaming kids and loud adults, I want piece and quiet on the ride to WDW.

We also prefer the courteous driver and one that concentrates on his driving as well. One concern i would have, although it would be no big deal, is that you requested a towncar and received a van instead. Even though you are still transported to your resort in the best manner, it would be a bit of a let-down for some of us to not receive the towncar as requested. My DD & DS really look forward to this type of vehicle.

We'll have to switch drivers next time. I always get the ones who want to chat the whole time and all I want is a quiet drive from the Airport to the Hotel.

It's all a matter of perceptions. I'm a very quiet person around people I do not know, so some people find that rude or stand-offish, other see it as the fact that I am a rather shy person. A lot of times your perception is shaded by your own personality and preferences. If you like to chat, than a quiet person can be a negative. For me, I liek quiet and don't talk alot so a very chatty person can make me very uncomfortable.

Could be worse. We had a driver who flirted with my four year old to the point where grandma started to think pedophile. I don't think it was that bad, but she was very irate about the whole thing.

"What a pretty girl you are." "What pretty eyes you have." "You have such pretty hair." "You are just so cute."

It isn't like my four year old isn't already full of herself.

Oh, and he didn't say a word to or about my son.
