I was really hoping to give a good review of FL tours.
But, my overall experience was bad and I would not recommend them to others on this board.

I read good things about them here, so I booked them for my May 9-16 trip. These are the things I want to share with all of you who are planning.

Online reservations- worked fine
I called Andy late the night before since I did not get my promised confirmation e-mail or phone call. He assured me they would be at the airport on time.

Arrival at airport- no driver at baggage claim. I called and Andy tells me the driver is in the airport at another baggage area. He arrives shortly and states "You told me the wrong flight number!"
Maybe Andy told him the wrong flight number, but I was at the right one. So we get off on a bad foot.

No help with luggage at airport. Does not introduce himself and walks ahead of my family, talking to someone else on the cell phone the entire time.

Delta lost one of our bags and the driver acts annoyed that we need to arrange for Delta to deliver it to hotel. Driver paces and talks on cell phone.

Limo-- clean, air fresheners in ash tray way to strong, Hot!!!
Asked driver 2 times to please turn on air conditioner, we are now cooking in the back. No Movie in TV/VCR. Doesn't even pick up an TV channels. Side pockets have cola in them, but not cold. Driver does not offer any information about grocery stop, so I ask , he says he can stop at Goodings. I told him fine since I have cost him time w/ the lost baggage.

Driver does help with unloading bags at Dolphin.

Paid in cash. Included 20% tip for entire 3 parts of trip. No receipt offered. I ask. Driver writes receipt on back of business card and signs it. Confirms transfer to Hard Rock Hotel in 4 days.

I called the night before transfer, spoke with Andy again, very polite.

Picked up in van for transfer as requested, on time, clean van.
Driver does not speak until I introduce myself and ask his name.
Lets bellman at Hard Rock remove our luggage. Smiles and waits for tip. Explained the 20% tip I had already given in advance. Doesn't say a word.....gets in van and drives away.
Yes, I felt bad. But 20% was already included. There was nothing special here to warrant paying him more.:(

Final leg....Andy called the Hard Rock the night before and left message to confirm pick-up time.
Picked up on time the next am. Again, limo is clean but not inviting. No drinks offered, hot soda in side pockets . No movie and TV doesn't get anything else. Did not feel bad at this point for not giving anymore money away.

Final cost 276.00

Lessons learned: priceless

I will not do business with them again.
Just my opinion, maybe yours will be better.

It's so sad to hear about those experiences, they didn't reserve with a professional established towncar service. I've noticed by messages, many people seem to try to find the cheapest towncar service, and expect a good service, professional chauffeur, etc. The words "cheapest" and "quality" do not go together.

Sorry, but I have to take issue with this. FL Tours is not the cheapest or non quality. It is a board sponser and is certainly not the cheapest service out there. It is most certainly an established company. Sometimes we have less than desirable experiences with companies that others have found to be perfect. We have used Tiffany Towncar several times and have been extremely happy with them. But for our trip in August we really want to use a board sponser. So we will be using FL Tours. Hopefully, we will be among the folks that have great experiences with them. But, I will let everyone know exactly what our experience is...good, bad or indifferent.

It's even sadder when people post AND DON'T HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT

Fl Tours is a board sponsor, well reviewed and is one of the more expensive towncar services. I suspect the high cost of gas is killing the margins of the companies, drivers or both. Really no excuse for bad service.

And to think, the OP was sharing info about personal experience. Yes, in our society everyone has an opinion. The OP had a bad experience and was sharing it so that others would be aware. Sorry about your experience and thank you for the"heads up."

I appreciated the heads up from the OP, I DIDN'T APPRECIATE the post by snowy blaming the OP for picking a towncar service that was cheap and not well established. OP did her homework and had a bad experience.

Sorry to hear your story...I sure hope my experience is positive for me because I just booked with Andy (BTW - Is he the owner?).

Anyway, alot of what the OP experienced would not bother me.

I do hope that we are met at our baggage area with a sign because we are surprising our children so I am really looking forward to that part.
We can get our own luggage, but a friendly driver will be a plus!.
Air conditioning will be nice, but not having a TV or cokes after getting off a noisy airplane w/snacks will not bother us either.
We do plan on a grocery stop. What is Goodings?
I am still confused about the tipping issue. Seems to me that we should just tip each driver individually, but how to know the correct amount for each leg is a mystery. Do you have to pay cash?

If your drivers were as bad as you say, maybe you just had bad luck and Andy should let them go.

I've been trying to find someone who used FL Tours LIMO service for months now...found on one.

This is exactly why I was trying to find just 1 happy customer...and I'm still looking.

I didn't like the idea of the tip being included either...you know the driver is expecting it too - give me a break!!!

I'm booking Happy Limo.

Oh, I have heard many happy reviews on this company. This is the first negative I have read.

I just found this on FL Tours web site:

8) What is appropriate gratuity to the driver?

Most of our drives tell us they earn on an average $10.00 from airport to resort transfers and $15.00 to cruise transfers. Although your round trip fare is due at when you reach your first destination, we recommend you tip your drivers on a per transfer basis.

If this is so, then why do they say they charge a 20% gratuity fee? I am going to ask Andy.

Maybe you should stop emailing him before he pulls that great rate from you. Being a nuisance is not attractive.

To the OP, I am sorry to hear of your less than stellar expereicnce. Maybe you just caught them on a bad week.

Familyof14 -

Just to let you know that when you hire a company you should not be expected to carry your own luggage, that is what the driver's job is. That is what you are paying for, their services. Also, when hiring a limo, you should receive complimentary soda (cold) and ice water as well. The back of the limo should be well stocked with cold drinks for everyone in your party.

I don't think you'll get different service because they made a mistake on your quote. I wouldn't worry about it. But just be aware that if you carry your own bags and stuff, that driver IMHO should not be receiving any gratuity.

I have used Happy Limo and I have used Your Ride (the old sponser of these boards) and have had great service with both of them.

You have nothing to worry about. Have a great time!

I realize that those services are what we pay for, but they just don't bother me/us. We are use to carrying our own luggage. Hey...I am the type that makes the bed in a hotel before the maids see it a mess.

I found also just found the following on Fl Tours that may explain why the limo driver was antsy. No excuse to be rude though.

A Meet & Greet is a service that we provide at no extra cost to our clients, but this service requires a great deal of laboring and expense on our part. At times, it can result in unnecessary expenses if our clients are unfamiliar with this type of service. By sharing with you the workings of a meet and greet, we believe you will help us reduce these unnecessary expenses at the airport. Your driver, who performs this and other multiple tasks in a given day, including scheduled returns of other families back to the airport, begins by monitoring your flight immediately after you leave your hometown in order to meet you at the baggage claim area when you arrive.

Once your flight is at the gate, for your convenience, your driver will bring and park the requested vehicle into what we call the commercial vehicle lane lot, located down stairs from where you claim your bags. The minimum charge just for passing through this area is just under $5.00. As one would imagine, the most important mission of your driver is to quickly meet up with your party and leave in the shortest possible time to minimize the charges. Anything that prolongs this process will increase our expenses.

Upon landing, if you think you think you will need some additional time in the terminal before coming down to baggage claim area, (such as having a bite to eat or anything else), please, please let us know in advance. This way, we will have your driver wait for you at the staging area on a stand by basis. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I wonder if this means a bathroom break as well? :o

1) A 20% mandatory gratuity is frequently added to LIMO trips but usually not with TOWNCAR trips.

It's rare for you luggage to come down instantaneously, a bathroom break shouldn't add any time but a stop at the food court for a meal would. The drivers have your flight number and should be aware of airline delays, JUST not delays that are from the customer.

Thank goodness, because I do HAVE to GO when I get off an airplane. I'm scared to go on the plane. :D

I imagine when the OP had to go to the Delta lost baggage area, this perturbed the driver because of the extra cost.

Oh, I have heard many happy reviews on this company.

Not LIMO service. That's L I M O, not towncar!

Couldn't find 1 customer who used limo service - until this post - and it was negative. lol

Sorry you had a bad experience. I remember reading awhile ago about problems with the limo service to and from Port Canaveral. I do suggest letting Andy know about the problems, because these unprofessional drivers will kill the business.

CaliforniaDreaming - Could you help me find those post about Port Canaveral limo service with FL Tours. Thanks!
