The background: My parents are part time residents of FL, property owners and are seasonal passholders. We are going with them in Jan and as in the past, my parents did not buy DH or I gifts for about a year before the trip and instead maintained a "disney account" for us. This "account" is then used to buy our tickets for the trip.

So, my dad called the 800 number (? I'm guessing a FL resident or seasonal passholder #) and explained the he wanted to buy tickets for us. Turns out that they are cheaper than I thought and I'm concerned because he will get a voucher that he has to turn in at Guest Services with proof of residency to get the tickets. He said he bought 6 day hoppers.

Ok, what the heck did he buy and are we headed for a problem?

Yes, I think so if the tickets he bought are only for FL residents. I had to show my Florida driver's license to redeem the voucher and get my pass. I wanted to redeem DH's as well, but the CM wouldn't let me. She said she needed to see his proof of residency. Maybe there's some way to get around it. :confused3

So my 70 year old dad bought illegal tickets! Awesome! :rotfl:

Ok seriously, is this something I need to be concerned about? He said that he purchased the tickets that the CM instructed him to buy after explaining the situation. He's a passholder, he has no need for hoppers. He's also purchasing them as a gift. It's not as simple as him claiming the tickets and then giving them to us?

Honest to god, we never bend the rules. DD11 is getting an adult ticket, we have never had an extra person in the room and have alway bought new mugs. :wave2: I did run once to Space Mountain but DD made me.

What shoud I do?

To convert a Florida Resident ticket voucher to a ticket I will ask for proof of Florida Residency for each person 18 and older if you came to my window. This is a requirment.

You will have to prove residency so you won't be able to use those tickets. He should call Disney and explain what happened.

thanks guys. Maybe I'm not making myself clear, he thinks he's going to provide proof of residency and then hand me the tickets to use. We're all going to be on the trip together.

hmm. Non transferrable. But on the other hand I would think many people buy park tickets as gifts for others. :confused3
Very worse case, explain the situation on the ticket pick up and upgrade if needed. :confused3

Florida residents must show proof of residency to pick up the tickets and to use them as well. They will have your name printed on them, and the name on the tickets must match the name on the ID. CM's at the turnstiles often check for ID when you enter the parks. I would have your dad call (or you can probably call) and explain the situation to them. Otherwise, I fear, you will have too many recurring problems. The FL res savings is only about $7.00 per ticket on average, so in my opinion, it isn't worth the hassle.

Where will you be staying when you're in WDW??

Ok, thanks. I guess I need to plan to have then upgraded when we get there.

We're staying at OKW.
