Anyone tried these? I am thinking about signing be and DD up for a family yoga class. Unfortunately I have had nerves removed from my feet and I currently have tarsal tunnel so going barefoot is impossible for me. I was thinking if I got a pair of five fingers I could slip my orthotics in them and be able to do yoga. I have tried before going barefoot just for yoga and it took me 3 days for my feet to recover. Any input would help. Thanks!

I don't own any, but I did talk to a sales consultant about them when I was in buying my most recent pair of hiking shoes. From what I understand, five fingers require quite some time top get used to, and typically put a lot of strain on your calves and Achilles tendon until you adapt to the shoes. I would also assume that you'll probably require a generous amount of self confidence when you wear them, because you'll sure to get a ton of awkward stares, and a few chuckles, wearing them. ;)

I know they look so strange!!! But you would think that since yoga is a gentler sport people would be gentler with your feelings!?? :confused3 Actually I gave up on people not laughing at my footwear years ago. I gotta go with what will let me continue to walk without crying in pain.

At the gym, I saw a guy running on the treadmill in them! I looked over to see what was causing the "slap, slap, slap" noise and it was his feet in those shoes!

We have them :rotfl: My df is a Crossfit Instructor on the side and they are HUGE in that circle so one day he brought a pair home for me :confused3 He got me the light pink/dark pink yoga one's I have to say I love them!!! I was a dancer my whole life and regular gym shoes feel so heavy on my feet....I've since gotten another pair for running but I tend to wear my yoga one's around the house, down to grab coffee, and during weight/yoga/aerobics training. I use my running one's to only run less then 2 miles....when I do intervals they are great.

I think you would love them I had no problem adjusting to them...go to their website and check out their new five fingers they have specific socks for them (I go barefoot) and they have yoga specific ones. If you decide to get them I would recommend finding a store that carries them to try them on as sizing is a little strange (I have long toes so had to go up a size). Ours are the vibram five fingers http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/products/products_classic_f.cfm

Well since I'm like Flynn (I don't run) That won't be an issue. I would use them for yoga, Pilates and possibly kayaking.

Thanks for the positive info. I did see them in a store when I was looking for tennis shoes last week. I just have to get over being so cheep! :rotfl:

Supposedly they are good for people who want to run or jog barefoot, which around here is the latest craze.

i have two friends who LOVE them, and i want to get a pair to use on the beach in the summertime. i don't think i could use them for running - i have MAJOR issues with my shins/calves/achilles and can't risk putting too much strain on them.

I love mine and see quite a few here. I always blister or had sore feet in Disney.

Got a pair of these for last years' trip - the feet felt terrific the entire trip.

My son has Plantar Fasciatis (sp?) and used to wear orthotics. He works for a large sporting goods store in the shoe dept. and was introduced to these. He now owns several pairs (for different applications) and says they are the only shoe he can be on his feet in all day at work and be comfortable.

We spent a few days walking all over San Francisco at Christmas and again he wore them without issue.

He does not use his orthotics with them at all. Yep, they look a little funny but he loves them.

I am contemplating a pair myself.

Any good deals for these? I've only found a few places online that sell them. Would love to get some sort of a deal on them :thumbsup2

I love love love them too!! I just moved up North so I can't wear them with the snow (my toes freeze) but they're all I wore in Florida.

I tried to wear them during yoga but had to ditch them. I tried doing the warrior pose and couldn't switch sides.. they grip the mat and it was really awkward/difficult. :( Was really hoping they'd work well (I'm a germaphobe so barefoot isn't my forte) but it was just too difficult and they made weird sounds every time I switched poses!!

I'm not sure you could put orthotics in them, though. I have a pair of the KSO style and it takes me a couple minutes to wiggle my feet in - they fit very snugly and don't have any extra room. If you bought a bigger size, the toes wouldn't fit right and you'd be slipping out of where your toes should be.

I love mine. I teach gymnastics barefoot. At meets I am required to wear athletic shoes. I felt like I was going to trip and drop a kid. I wear these shoes now and they are great.

We saw quite a few people wearing them during our last Disney trip.

DH has been wanting a pair and he talked to a few people who were wearing them. They all said they were their most comfortable shoes and were wonderful for walking around the parks.

Perhaps these will replace the "Crocs are absolutely necessary for walking at Disney" threads in the near future... :upsidedow

interesting..I find being barefoot as the most comfortable for me...I have tried Teva's, Keen's, Merrel's, Croc's, New Balance...you name it over the last 25 years and I find that my back/feet are ok until I wear shoes, lol. However, since I do have back problems I have been told I need support, I need to look into these. I am not one who can wear flip flops tho, the rubbing of the strap in between my toes, Not sure how I would deal with that on each toe unless since the material wraps around the toes it isn't so bad?

FYI they do make some sort of "winter" sleeve so that you can wear them in different climates. I'm not sure what it is called but my DS has the "socks" and wears his Vibrams in the snow even.

Hi Fin! I've tried them on, but fashion won out for me! :lmao: When they fit properly, each toe is in its own compartment and the compartment is snug so rubbing should not be too much of an issue. If you have an REI or a Scheels near you, they both carry a wide selection - there are several styles and colors available.

The biggest thing with these shoes is you need to get used to them, to break them in and essentially retrain your foot/calf muscles.
