Five Days in Wonderland: Our Halloweentime Trip: 10/21-10/26

DAY FIVE: Friday, October 25th---Continued

Once we had left the Haunted Mansion, I found myself with a pretty substantial appetite. I remembered that the Harbour Gallery right near by severed baked potatoes that were supposed to be quite good, so I told Trent we were going to make a quick detour.

I was the only one who had yet to eat breakfast, so the girls and Trent were still full and didn't have anything. I ordered the traditional baked potato, with sour cream and bacon bits and chives. I hadn't had a baked potato in years, so it was a nice treat. And by "nice treat," I mean absolutely delicious. :thumbsup2

No food pictures, sadly. :(

We rode POTC after that. Trent's feet were still killing him, so he asked if we could return to the room from there. I agreed, though I was a bit bummed we hadn't gotten more accomplished.

We returned to the GCH and stayed there until our lunch reservation at Blue Bayou.

The bread they serve at BB is incredible. Seriously, I cannot rave about it enough. :worship:

For appetizers, I had the salad:

Trent had the very-awesome gumbo:

For entrees, Trent had the surf & turf. He loved it. I ordered the salmon, which was only okay. The side of risotto it came with was delicious, though (I guess I was on a risotto kick during this trip lol).

Stupidly, I forgot to take pictures of our main dishes. :headache: I did manage to get one of mine, after I had already eaten most of it:

Trust me, it was a lot prettier when it first came out. :p

DAY FIVE: Friday, October 25th

After our lunch at BB, we waddled back to the GCH to digest for awhile… or a year.

Once we felt a little less full, we headed out to do another favorite of ours: Grizzly River Run. Because of the GCH's special entrance into DCA, we have Grizzly River Run practically in our backyard, which really helps because you get absolutely soaked on this ride and need to have your room close by so that you can run up and change.

I didn't take my camera with me, because of it being a water ride and all, so no photos. I know that we did GRR about five times in a row (there was no wait whatsoever), and after we changed our clothes, I think we went back in and did Monsters, Inc. and the Crush show back-to-back.

From there, we chilled out in our suite for awhile. Lucia took a nap and Ana played with her toys or watched movies or something.

Just as it was getting dark, we headed back into DCA. It was open until midnight, I think, and was Crowded with a capital C. We decided to walk around Cars Land.

Somehow, it was the first time we'd seen Cars Land at nighttime, when it's all lit up like that. I LOVED it.

From there, we headed over to Pacific Wharf to grab some dessert at Ghiridelli's. This is another place I've never eaten at (besides for a chocolate milk), so I was curious.

As Trent ordered our sundaes and I went outside to find a seat, I started to get a bit melancholy. It was our last day, after all. I couldn't help wishing we'd done more, seen more, etc. The one thing that cheered me up was knowing I was going home to my dance studio, and my dogs. :p

I can't for the life of me remember what Trent ordered, and strangely, neither does he. I know he loved it, though, and that it involved raspberries… or strawberries… something like that.

The girls both got brownie sundaes, which they adored.

I didn't get a picture of mine, so I can't recall what it was. Honestly, I didn't eat very much, because I was still SO full from our lunch. But it was good and I'd definitely go again (just with a bigger appetite, lol).

We had another party to go to. Again, we'd gone back and forth about whether or not we should actually do it. Because of how tired Trent was, and how much his feet hurt, he kind of wanted to skip it. But the girls were determined to like MHP, so, for their sake, we headed over. I'm actually glad we did…

By the time we made it over, the fireworks were about to start. They were the only part of MHP I really, really wanted to do, more than the trick-or-treating or the parade, any of it. So I said we might as well go up to the train station platform and see if the view was any good.

Well, let me tell you, it was a FANTASTIC view. Because I'm so nice, I'm going to share our little secret with you DISers: The train station is a much better place to watch the fireworks than the Hub.

Shocking, right?

There's benches to sit down on and rest your tired feet, you get the perfect view of the fireworks, projections, etc., and we were completely alone because literally NO ONE else knows about it! If you do MHP, please please please go to the train station. It's so much more superior than being part of some big, sweaty Main Street crowd that seeing the show anywhere else is just laughable.

We absolutely adored the show. The music was awesome, the fireworks themselves were very fun… I have no complaints.

After that, we made our way through MSUSA.

We headed over to Tomorrowland, planning to ride Star Tours, but the line was too long for Trent's liking so we turned around and went to Frontierland instead.

The Halloween Tree (it was so gorgeous these pictures don't nearly do it justice):

DAY FIVE: Friday, October 25th

After seeing the Halloween tree, we stopped inside a nearby store to browse. I somehow forgot to take any pictures. Again, it was almost entirely Christmas merchandise. Is it possible to overdose on Christmas products??

We made our way over to Pirates to do one last ride.

The girls were exhausted and Trent's feet were, amazingly, still hurting. The party was pretty crowded. And by "pretty crowded," I mean a zoo. Interestingly, Main Street wasn't too bad, though it had been during Wednesday's party. I guess everyone was busy in NOS.

We decided to hop aboard the train and get out of there. It was too bad, because I had hoped to do some more rides, but we were all just spent.

View from the train:

Fantasyland was another rare area that was conspicuously empty. I guess with IASW down, people weren't too interested?

That was the last picture I took that night. We made our way back to the GCH, and pretty quickly fell asleep. We still had one more morning at the parks, and though it's pretty brief I'll do a recap anyway. ;)

BONUS MORNING: Saturday, October 26th

On Saturday, Trent and I woke up bright and early to pack. Once the girls finally got up, we decided to sneak in a quick visit to DCA. Usually we take such an early flight that we don't get a bonus morning, but this time around we wanted to change things up a bit.

Ana and Lucia were hungry, and they had loved that cinnamon bun from Pacific Wharf Cafe so much that they specifically asked for one. We headed over there, and I got a few pictures:

This side of the park was pretty deserted, but I'm sure Cars Land was a different story.

The girls ate. They said it was delicious, again. I'm not a big pastry/junk food eater, but now they've made me want to try one lol.

From there, Trent proposed another spin on TSMM, and we all agreed. So, off we went.

The line& well, there was no line. We rode a few times, and I'm happy to say that I CREAMED Trent. He said he hadn't had enough coffee, but I just think that I'm the better player. Faster reflexes and all. :snooty:

From there, we booked it back to the GCH and I got one last room picture:

We went downstairs and were greeted by another limo. The only difference was that, for some reason, they thought there were six people in our party and not four. So the limo they sent was HUGE, and guess what was playing inside&?

Yep, that's right. Our driver had "A Bug's Life" playing on three different mini TVs at once. I think the girls almost had a heart attack with joy---they love that movie. And luckily for us, it kept them busy the whole ride. Win-win!

The limo (before Lucia & Ana got in and messed it all up):

Thus concludes our Disney trip, and this here TR. I hope you enjoyed coming along with us!! :thumbsup2:goodvibes:thumbsup2

:tigger: Happy Halloween, everybody!! :tigger:

Sorry, no update today. I've been busy with my classes and bingeing on holiday movies on my laptop during my breaks… lol. :thumbsup2 I'm about to start getting ready for this Halloween party I'm going to with Trent. There's a small chance I might have enough energy tonight to give a quick update when I get home, but probably not. I will definitely be posting tomorrow, though. ;) I can't believe I'm already almost done with this report!!

Loving the review so far! :thumbsup2

Thanks much! :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing! Looks like you guys had a wonderful trip!

No problem! Yeah, we did have a good trip. Well, at least the girls and I did. Trent told me after we got home and my nieces went back to Spain that he didn't have a great time. I think it was mostly about his feet hurting, but he claims it also had to do with the fact that Big Thunder, his favorite ride, was closed. Oh well, you can't please everybody. :rolleyes2
