Fist timer on Magical Express

I love ME but never use it for luggage service. Always get our luggage and then go to bus. Waited over 6 hours for luggage the one and only time we used luggage service. I like having it with me. Even with getting luggage it hadn't tsken us more than two hours to resort. But we don't go to parks much Ny more so we aren't in a hurry. And the last several times we've gone room is ready so we can take bags up and get unpacked before heading out to pool.

Now I'm really confused....I thought you were not supposed to get your luggage for the bus. Doesn't that slow down the whole process at each resort? Now the driver has to get off and get bags out from under bus? I remember that from using Mears years ago, and it was a very slow process. That's actually what made us begin using a car service in the first place.....

Yes, it does. BUT......after having to wait until 1am, after checking in around 6ish, I'm not so confident about letting them handle the bags. I have always said that if you arrive after 6pm, it's not a bad idea to leave the bags untagged and get them yourself. Why? If you land at 6, you'll, most likely, be at your resort by 7:30. Given Disney's info, you can expect your bags to arrive, in your room, by 11:30...could be later, much later. And that's not something I want to worry about.
So, yes, it does slow down the process. The driver gets off the bus anyway. So, it adds about 4-5 mins, tops, for each resort stop.

I love the Magical Express. My parents and I use it on all our trips. When I first step on the bus it feels like I am starting my Walt Disney World vacation. Then Mickey comes on the little television and that really gets me into the Disney spirit. My parents and me always get the luggage service and have never had a problem with it at all. Usually when we arrive at the resort it is way before check in time. So our luggage goes into the storage room and when we can check in everytime but 1 time that I can remember the luggage is waiting in our room when we get there. We also have 1 little carry on the airplane and Magical Express bus that has our bathing suits and we hang out at the resort pool when we first arrive.

Hello! Thanks for all the tips... One question I have is how long does it usually take to get through checkin after you arrive at your resort (we are staying at port Orleans)? Just want to tentatively plan our day at the park after arrival.

One other question. Have people had luck checking in early? I don't want to haul my boys carry ons through the park if I don't have too.

I would allow about 45 minutes to get through check-in to be safe. It probably won't take the long, but if there are issues or a really long line, it can take a bit.

Even if the room is not ready, you could leave your bags/carry-ons with Bell Services. That is what I've done in the past when the room wasn't ready, but I didn't want to carry my bags with me in the parks.

Plan on being in a park 3 to 3.5 hours after your plane lands.

You shouldn't need to physically check in if you do online check in. They'll send you a text when your room is ready.

Everyone can check in early. If your room isn't ready, you can leave your bags with bell services.
