Fishing excursions from Poly

This is our first WDW trip. Has anyone ever went on a fishing excursion from the Poly? How fast do they book up? Do I need to make reservations early or can I wait until we get there? Thank you.

Over the years, my family has done many WDW fishing excursions (click here for official WDW webpage). They are very relaxing. Since you are staying at the Poly, you can arrange it so the boat picks you up at your resort's dock. You will be able to fish on Seven Seas Lagoon and/or Bay Lake. Both bodies of water have lots of fish to catch. I should note that all fishing inside WDW is strictly catch-and-release, so make sure to have your camera & camcorder handy when you catch the BIG ONE.

We have done the fishing trip from the poly with our family of 5. Guess who caught the most fish, not dh or the 3 ds but me, the mom. You get a guide and bait is extra. Drinks like powerade and coffee are included and they expect a tip. They will bait your hook and remove fish for you etc. The spots are 2 hours long. Its like 6-8, 8-10. We chose 8-10. They told us most people chose 6-8 as its cooler and the fish are more active and there is less boat traffic on the water then. It was fun, but expensive. Now its like $200 plus not including bait and tip.

It's always best to book in advance. I remember one vacation when we were trying to add a couple of fishing excursions to our trip that already was in progress -- Disney was only able to give us one more trip (and we didn't have a choice as to the date & time of it).
