I read several weeks ago in the Disney Magazine about fishing excursions in the lakes at WDW. We thought we would like to try this. Has anyone done this? If you have, where did you launch from and go to to fish? My son loves to go fishing and we thought it might be a good thing to do on an off park day. How did you like it? Thanks for any input.

Thinkerbell,
Someone just posted about going on one of these excursions, over on the Camping at WDW Board. They had a great time! Sorry I don't know how to post a link to the thread, but it's close to the top of that board!

Thanks Dawn! I read it and it sounded like they loved it. We are really thinking about the one that leaves from Fort Wilderness. The article said that you can catch a lot of fish but I was wondering if that was just their slant on it or if it was true.

Your baby is the cutest!!!

My DH &DD went on an excursion that left from the Polynesian. They did most of their fishing over by the Contemporary. They had a terrific time(this was the absolute highlight of the trip for DH) and caught many large bass. They loved being out on the water early in the morning. We plan on fishing again on our next trip and will try to request the same guide-Jody.

My FW and I have done it twice. Both times we left from Ft. Wilderness. First time with a guide (edit) "Uby" 12/00. He was awesome! We caught and released quite a few largemouth bass(10-11 in 2 hrs), most in the 3-6 lb. range. He took us to a few different spots and every place we went we caught a fish. The second time in 12/01 we had a female guide ( i forgot her name) and she was fantastic. Again we caught and released about 10 bass.
We're definately doing it again on our next trip. The guides are so nice. They will bait your hook and take your catch off, Jenn doesn't like to touch fish. lol.
Here's one from our 12/00 trip.

We have gone the last two Febs out of the Boardwalk with Capt Bill. We go at 7am and get to fish in the World Showcase Lagoon. This year between 4 of us we caught about 15 fish and I caught the largest one at 3.5 lbs.

My husband and I went last Oct. from the YC marina and I believe our guide was Robert. We left at 7am and were out for 2 hrs., unfortunately we didn't catch anything so the next day, Robert & my husband went out again at 5:30am. I opted to sleep in.;)

Looks and sounds like fun. Guess we will give it a try. We are always looking for something new to try out each trip. Sounds like this will be the winner this time. Thanks for the input.

We did the Bass Fishing Excursion from YC last October. It was me, DH, DS (four) and my dad. DS had a blast and it was really relaxing for me to just get to sit in the sun for a couple of hours!
We will probably do this again next trip.
FYI, this is catch and release.

My husband's favorite WDW experience is the Guided Fishing Excursion. He lives for those things. We have done them in Seven Seas Lagoon, Bay Lake, Crescent Lake, and Epcot. We have caught the most fish in Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. I don't have a lot of photos posted, but I do have some: click here for my fishing photos.

I should mention that our favorite fishing guide is Missy. She's a gem. My family adores her.

Oh dear...what am I going to do with you CKJ?

yes, I'm CKJ's future wife...he can't even remember our favorite guides name?

It wasn't Rico - it was Uby. How can you forget a name like Uby?

And please disregard the HORRIBLE picture my lovely future husband posted of me...no, i'm not drunk - the sun was in my eyes!
