We are staying at the poly in 5 weeks :cheer2: and I built in one day to just hang out and enjoy the hotel and anything else we come up w/. I heard about a fishing excursion for kids, it is one hour and about 30 bucks. My son loves fishing. Has anyone ever done this? Is it worth planning for it or should I just send my kids and hubbie out on the mouse boats? LOL :earseek: Any other suggestions for the day? We will probably do downtown disney sometime that day. thanks :grouphug:

We have done the family fishing trip from the Poly. That is fun, but pretty expensive. Our 3 ds have done the kids fishing trip from the Boardwalk. I think the Poly location is much better. It is well worth the money. It was a highlight for my kids. The only thing they didnt like was the insistence they had to wear life vests. They even get free soda or powerade. In your post you said son and then kids (plural) so I dont really know how many you have, but the mouseboats only fit 2. Another option would be a picnic lunch on the beach or you might want to rent a pontoon boat as a family and take your picnic lunch on the seven seas lagoon etc. Just buy your stuff from captain cooks to go etc.

I've done the fishing trip from the GF in the past. Likeit was said in the previous post, it is expensive. You pay for the price of the boat and it can hold up to five people.
I went out on a three hour trip alone so it was expensive.
I don't remember the price but you can find it on the DIS somewhere. Not sure about a kids trip tho.

You should search for a fishing review from April 2004 by DIS user kirkharrod. You definitely want to fish Seven Seas Lagoon, not the Downtown Disney/Boardwalk area. You catch a lot more fish over by the Grand Floridian. We had a great time and we fish every weekend in the spring and summer at home.

I highly recommend Carrie as your fishing guide.

thanks for the info. I have 3 kids (2 boys 9 and 5 and a girl 2) My older son is the fishing guy and the 5 yr old likes it for short periods. The fishing trip I am checking into is for kids, I think 28.50 per kid and it is about 1 hour long ( perfect for my 5 yr old I hope). I am glad to hear there is good fishing by the GF. The excursion I am referring to goes out of the Poly from what I saw. I was wondering if anyone has done the kid one. I did see the othe one and that did look pricey! :wizard:
