I just booked a fishing excursion through Disney. The boat leaves from Downtown Disney, it is just for your family, it is for 2 hours, and it costs $225. Has anyone ever done this before? If so, what is your experience/opinions/advice???
Thanks!

I did it, and I highly recommend it.
Did you get the earliest fishing trip of the day? They tend to catch a few more on the earlier trips.
For sheer numbers, fish Bay Lake. But for the real lunkers, fish Downtown Disney.
We fished the back side of the Contemporary, right out in front of the MK, and then finally the dock at Fort Wilderness. (TONS of fish there.) And boy, do they fight!
You are going to have a blast!

Are you being picked up at DTD? I booked a fishing trip for the "guys" during our upcoming stay at POR. The woman who booked it said that they need to be at the POR Marina as that is where they will be picked up but that they will be fishing in the DTD area.

Has anyone heard how the fishing is when you take the tour from the BC. We were thinking of booking one for our trip.

Since someone mentioned the "where will you be picked up" question, I will add that even though I had an absolute blast fishing, it was a complete nightmare until we got out on the water.
We were supposed to get picked up at the Contemporary dock. We got up super early, paid for a cab ride over and the boat never arrived. We had to reschedule, and on the second attempt the boat STILL failed to show up. Only this time I dogged them until they rescheduled us for the later trip. It finally worked out, but what a mess!

That said, I completely forgot about the whole scheduling snafu because we had so much fun fishing. Our guide was great, we caught a ton of fish and it was my favorite side excursion so far at WDW.

Here's the missus with her best catch of the day:

Not bad. The bigger ones are at DTD.
I think we got about 14 total. And the guide said it was a slow day. :confused3

I did not get the earliest fishing trip of the day. Although I would have liked that, I know that it would be hard for us to actually be out on the boat at 7:00 AM, so I had to think realistically and I booked the 10:00 AM
The woman I spoke to at Disney reservations mentioned three places to be picked up...DTD, Yacht and Beach Club (I think) and I forgot the other. I hope everything works out ok!
One more question for everyone out there.............
I have NEVER been fishing and we are all completely clueless, will the person driving the boat help us???
TIA!!!

DB and I fished bay lake guides will help you and give you pointers . Just tell them you will need help best thing we did on our trip doing it again in 2007 with DB and DS. :earsboy:
