Wow! Well, I weighed in on Mon after one week and had lost 11 lbs. That is half of what it took me 6 months to lose so far this year. Apparantly this is what I needed.

A question for you more experienced folks out there. If you don't eat all 3 cups of your vegies, do you lose less. I have not lost anything more since Monday and that is about the only change I can think of. I am getting a little fed up with salad I will admit and have tried brocolli and celery which help but I just don't think I am getting quite enough. Life has been really hectic around here and I think I am actually eating less than last week. I know on weight watchers if I didn't eat all of my points I didn't lose as well.

I am a very visual person and need something to compare weight loss to, so here you go. I have a total of 33 pounds gone which is equal to 132 sticks of butter. I is also equal to 4 eight lb bags of potatoes. It is ALSO one more pound than my almost two year old weighs and when I carry him around for awhile, I am amazed that that used to be what I weighed on my own. That kid is HEAVY!

Overall I am very happy, but am wondering why I have totally stopped after only one week. Ideas?

After the first week of induction, your weight loss should slow...don't expect to see a loss on the scale every week, but, you will see it in your body size. Go by how your clothes are fitting. Hubby and I lose an average of 2 pounds a week..sometimes none, sometimes more than two...but it all averages out to a good, steady reduction in weight.

What I like is the difference in clothing sizes..I was an 18W, now I am down to a 14, and they are getting loose. I have lost over 30 pounds in the past three months,

There is a great cookbook...How to eat yourself thin like I did....I found it at our local book store, I am sure it is online also. The recipes in there are wonderful...we have been using them on induction, and will continue to use them for the rest of our lives.

For my menu planning to make sure we are getting enough of everything, I use the sample week one induction plan from atkins book and plan my menus around that...seems to be working. Also, try some green beans, asparagus...they are a nice change.
We do the green beans with bacon and dried red peppers. Asparagus...make yourself a parm cheese sauce. Don't make yourself board with salads...you can have so many wonderful foods, get creative.

I average two pounds a week as well. You really do need to keep your carb levels at about 20...go much lower and your loss will slow dramatically. I'm still playing around with finding my optimum level, but it looks like it's going to be about 30-35. Everyone is different.

You've had a great start. Keep on going!

Eat Those VEGGIES!::yes:: Check out my journal pages for this week to see the ways I've been getting some veggies in. I've been making some sort of veggie omelet every morning. I still need to work a little more at it --- but I know it will be worth the extra effort.

I love celery with peanut butter! (sugar-free peanut butter, of course, and just a thin layer).

I also get carbs from cheese. I eat a lot of cheese! How broccoli with cheese sauce? Yummy!! :upsidedow

Okay guys--thanks for all the great encouragement! I will keep plugging along. It is hard to have faith though when this plan is so new for me and I am stalled already. I weighed last night and was the same as I was yesterday morning so I thought for sure I would be a couple of lbs down today since I always weigh quite a bit more at night. Nope. Still the same. I am going to continue on induction one more week for sure and maybe it will even out. The last two days I have for sure had the right amount of vegies so am hoping to see a difference. One thing I came up with is taco salads--in a reg bowl of course. That was pretty yummy.

It's not unusual to "stall" for awhile on Atkins, especially if you've just dropped. Your scale may not be showing a loss, but if you are continuing on plan, you are losing inches and fat. For awhile, your body just fills up the empty fat cells with water. Pretty soon, out goes the water and down goes the scale!

So don't be discouraged if you don't lose steadily. Just keep on the plan and you will get smaller. And after all, that's what really counts, not that number on the scale!
