First visit to Disney in a long time, and first time as DVC member - Perks to take advantage of?

I took over my brother's DVC membership a while back but have not stayed at the resorts yet. I will not be staying on DVC points this trip either, since my MIL booked an AirB&B.

We will be visiting MK and Epcot. Are there any perks besides the Epcot lounge and the obvious gift shop/restaurant discounts I should take advantage of? I checked out the Top of the World Lounge, but it looks like they don't let you in unless you're staying at a Disney resort even if you're a DVC member.

I haven't been to Disney in over a decade and I remember it was magic bands at the time to enter the parks, your DVC resort, etc. Now there's MDE on your phone which seems to be able to replace the band. Is it still worth getting bands? I do have a 4 year old that we're taking with us, so I thought it may be useful for her.

Do you have any other tips in mind?

To be eligible for any of the DVC membership extras you must have the digital card which has the DVC Y notation on it.

So, if the contract you now own entitled you to those benefits be sure you hsve that to show.

MBs are not required but can be fun for little ones as something they can play with when they get home.

Yes it's DVC Y which is one of the first things I made sure of when they made us all switch to digital. Is there a way to show that besides manually opening Wallet and then flipping the card over by clicking on the i icon, like when you double click the power button to show your cards?

That’s the only way to do it. Double clicking won’t let you switch to the back.

You can print a temporary card off the website to pull out which is good for one month but I find using the digital easier

I keep a digital picture of my license in my notes section of my phone and show that when asked.

Thanks thats a great tip

For park entry and tap locations like Genie + queue, I still find a MagicBand more convenient than digging my phone out and pulling up MDE. I do like the scan and go type gift shop purchases available through MDE, though.

If you get the MB+, it will have some light up effects and can trigger effects around the park which is fun for the little ones. It will also make lights with fireworks. However, short of small things like that and/or the system recognizing you on rides for photo shoots and convivence, the MB is not required and does not add anything else. That's a personal choice that we can not really help you with - depends if it's worth it to you.

Ask everywhere you go if they offer any DVC discounts. The CM's will never be offended by the question and you never know where it can help.

There are not any other major perks. Mostly DVC provides you with an amazing room. Depending on when you are there, sometimes DVC may have an event or something going on that you can join, but that too is a personal preference. I do not usually get much out of those.
